Thanks Simon, understand this. Guess my concerns are 2-fold. 1st that CU doesn't bring many tangible benefits the public see. 2nd that EU may not be too keen on negotiating quite a complex treat only to need to change it again a few years later (especially with the lack of trust they now have).
I've actually lost a bit of respect for the LibDems for banging on about a CU. Feels like a cheap way of showing pro-EU credentials without really dealing with the substantive issues.
Of course it might be that these women don't want to date men with views like these not just because they hold these views, but because so many of them tend to look a bit like Payne.
I think the public understand how difficult it is dealing with Trump, but Starmer's response to this scandal is surely just keeping it alive.
I wonder if the best response would have been 'We had an incredibly difficult situation dealing with the US & I decided to do something unorthodox to help. We cut corners & made mistakes, for which I apologise, but I did it to protect the interests of the UK'.
