Exactly. When you pander to certain interest groups you generally get bad laws. New Zealand canned a similar law because it was unworkable. This law will look very silly and be completely ignored with 5 to 10 years, I guarantee it. We will just laugh at it.

This Isn't Trading. It's Theft from Your Retirement. Someone keeps making perfectly-timed bets right before the President speaks. The victims are your pension, your 401(k), and the country I took an oath to defend.

Fifteen minutes before the President announced he was pausing strikes on Iran, somebody moved $500 million in oil futures. Somebody knew. Somebody told them. Or somebody is them.

It is not the same as tobacco. There is no safe level of smoking, even small amounts of smoke leads to cancer risks. Drinking in moderate amounts is not proven to cause harm in the same way as tobacco.

With alcohol you have a fixed legalisation age of 18, it doesnt move up as you get older, hence why this is completely different.

It's certainly a bold approach to take to one of your party's core voting groups two weeks before elections.

There is no route to a Labour recovery that does not run through the sacking of Shabana Mahmood. Perhaps the reason she's so tetchy is that she realises this.

Lol 'best'. If this is his best I am afraid to think what his worst is.

Unbelievable.

Not content with appointing Mandelson as US ambassador despite his links to Epstein, Starmer tried to appoint another man with a known friendship with a sex offender.

When is the Prime Minister finally going to take some responsibility?

'This phases them out' It phases them out legally. If the black market is a problem when it comes to banning them then it will also be a problem when it comes to age checks.

Exactly this. The only reason why they have introduced this ridiculous system is to appease the portion of grey vote who still smoke 'Ive smoked 40 a day for 50 years......yadayadayada'

It's going to be silly in, say, 15 years time when a 34 year old can buy cigarettes but a 33 year old can't. Would a 34 year old man be prosecuted for buying them for his 33 year old wife? Not sure that's a good use of our justice system.
It should either be legal for adults or illegal.

Lots of alternatives to cigarettes including nicotine patches and indeed vapes. And if the demand is so great then it will cause queues in shops. Its already a pain when someone goes 'Can I get 30 of x', shop assistant then spends ages trying to find the right brand, add ID cuffuffles on top of that

Thats what they said about new border checks in Europe too. What do we have? Ridiculous queues. If they are so bad and they killed your sister they should be banned altogether.

And for people who say 'I dont smoke, it wont affect me'. Wait till you are stuck in queues because staff have to now check ID of all adults

Its certainly welcome. I have solar panels hanging off my garden fence at the moment, but unless you have a lot of them, for most people they are still reliant on the grid

Smoking ban for people born after 2008 in the UK agreed The

This is the maddest legislation ever passed by our politicians. Like Online Safety Act, they simply dont think about the ramifications. It means ALL adults are now going to have to be IDed buying cigarettes. Just be brave and ban the things altogether, much simpler www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The entire system NEEDS revamping, from energy to utilities to Europe. People are crying out for radical change and all Labour wants to do is shuffle deckchairs and tinker around the edges.

What does 'fixing the country' mean? What for? Whats his vision of what he wants the UK to be? He hasnt spelled out any of it. In many ways Labour has the same problem as the Tories, power for powers sake, they dont stand for anything beyond status quo managerial BS.
