Uh, also, any Avali (who like gwah-ing) who are on .bsky.social right now, I can give you a .gwah.ing handle if you want one. They're free for me to set up and only take me like 5 minutes. I can do like name-is.gwah.ing, \name.is.gwah.ing, or \name.gwah.ing. (DM me for one, I suppose?)

I need to stop writing *recursive descent parsers*!

Why do I keep doing this to myself‽

Like, genuinely, I think like 50% of the projects I have started in the last year involved me writing a parser (and then not finishing the parser, usually).

But, like…

Nobody wants my bad Bluesky API wrapper that only has type hints for like 2 schemas

And other similar low quality side projects

I need to stop making things and then not posting the code anywhere so it looks like I did absolutely nothing lmao

I am a bit annoyed that there is *no* documentation for any of the Bluesky schemas. You have find the internal JSON schema definitions in their GitHub repository (which are mixed in with the definitions for the API calls) and read it yourself.

Yo I bought another domain

(I registered gwah.ing because why not — it's only $10.81 a year)

Now I need to figure out something to do with it other than giving my friends free subdomains lmao

(it's moreso renting it from Google than buying actually)

I think they were referring to how bots will follow thousands of users really quickly in an attempt to get them to follow back to quickly build some semblance of trustworthiness.

I.e. "if an account follows 10k users their account should be deleted"

The rich text demo is intended to show that the code blocks get split by the line wrapping but I think it just makes it look worse because you can't tell if it was two code blocks or one that got split.

My problem with the demos is that the alternatives to the Pretext versions are all implemented entirely differently. E.g. the ASCII monospace doesn't fade the colors on the edges, the bubbles have different `max-width`s set for CSS vs. Pretext.

I do not personally benefit from it but it's really best practice to provide alt text for all media since it helps people with vision impairments.

It's also considered when searching, so tags can be put there to avoid putting them in the main content, and people can search by the image contents.

So, I have a lot of noise in my vision (it might be Visual Snow but I am unsure) and the small color differences makes a vertical shift in the patterns of noise in my vision and so even if I can't see the color difference, I can see the shift in the amount of noise / direction of the noise patterns

My desktop's monitor makes it easier to tell the colors apart.

You reminded me to clean my monitor lmao

If I like artwork, I will sometimes reverse image search it on a few services like Fluffle (for furry art) or Google Lens (for other art or if it's not on Fluffle)

I like being able to find the artists of artwork that I see and sourcing things definitely is appreciated :3

So, yes, quite likely.

A view of an Avali with cream, light green, and dark green feathers staring at the camera with their orange tongue dangling sillily out of their closed mouth. The artwork has a distorted perspective so that it appears as if it is from a fisheye lens / wide angle lens like a doorbell camera. The Avali has a glowing orange holographic half-halo with a zigzag in the center hovering over their head and a black cropped bodysuit that is lacking a sleeve on their right shoulder. They have orange-and-yellow drapes with a sun pattern formed from concentric circles formed from long dotted lines. They have large augmented eyes with rich maroon rings and black everywhere else in the eyes.

And Dell, why do I need to reboot and dig through menus to tell your firmware not to disable the drive?

I made a backup (in two formats because I don't trust them) onto my backup hard drive, if you're wondering. (one backup format has been automated and running daily for months)

Darn it. Can my SSDs in my server behave themself???? I understand that's an unreasonable request but could it at least not be both the drives on the same stripe? (my data is fine; I'm just annoyed because I'm going to need to remake my ZFS pool; one of the drives is failing but hasn't yet failed)

I have apparently found a new way to procrastinate on university assignments… by writing a book on the Python programming language????

Anyways I might actually finish this??? :3
(I would like to clarify that I forced myself to stop writing to finish the assignments and they're done now)

Happy birthday, writer of good blog posts! :3

I should really post on BlueSky more (or at all tbh)…
I am very much in the habit of "DM it to the first person or first few people at the top of my Discord DMs list at that moment and then never mention it anywhere else"

Last.fm is also run by a corporation that's probably selling my listening history so I mean that's another reason to leave it tbh

Of course, I can't have my metadata be incorrect so now I have switched away from last.fm to listenbrainz.org and found a wonderful little open source ecosystem with free APIs to access all of their metadata :3

I am so happy to have metadata… :3
lmao why am I like this

3 months ago 2 0 1 0

As I like collecting data, I recently tried out last.fm and it was quite pleasant. It worked fine… until I tried to listen to INFAMOUS by Ivcomb, YonKaGor, and Stephanfro. Then I realized that it could only record one artist for each listen entry.

I am not against using Nightshade but I would not call that "almost unnoticeable." Maybe I look at images too closely, but all of the detail in the background of the left image is completely smoothed out and "liquefied." (it looks similar to the GIMP/Krita smudge tool)

Once again, thank you so much for drawing her! She looks appropriately silly in this, awa! :3

a shaded fullbody drawing of a white, green and blue avali character wearing traditional avali clothing with yellow sashes around their shoulder, waist and leg. they also have a hologram halo-like crown around their headfeathers. they have a big smile on their face and one eye closed mid-movement, with one leg raised and one arm extended as if dancing energetically

I learned that Zen (somewhat popular Firefox fork) enables JPEG-XL by default today. Works great with your gallery :3
