Or for the “(d) all of the above” folks:
“eternity; which though it doe infinitely exceed all time … is indivisible, eternity is so; and though it last for ever, is all at once, eternity is so. … this timelesse time, time that is all time, time that is no time, from all eternity”

Worth a try, no? Even if in long defeat. And don’t the proposals themselves have merit?
Honestly, I probably copped it from you.
What better way to end the Day of Much Marking. Self-indictment for plagiarism.
If God’s claim is the main thing, maybe isolating rationality, or temporality, or language, or relationality as the image becomes secondary. (At least, secondary w/r/t Daniel’s concerns, as I play telepath.)
(I was thinking of 9:6 here.)
(Gen 5:3 is interesting too.)
Daniel’s first worry rings true. Because “image/likeness” isn’t spelled out, it’s a bit of a theological inkblot.
What’s clearer in Genesis is what the “of God” entails. The divine image means human blood—bodily life—is spoken for. Humans belong to God materially.

Fellow putter-off here. Do you think imago Dei talk fares better if the weight falls on “of”?
