Mental health isn’t smooth. And that’s okay.
We’re pressured to present a polished version of ourselves. But real emotions? They’re chunk, messy, textured, and full of contradiction.
You’re allowed to be complicated. To feel everything. To be real.

It’s not about grand resolutions – sometimes, it’s just about being present enough to enjoy what’s right in front of you.
Here’s to a year of small joys and mindful moments.
Enjoy every sandwich.
Wishing you peace and clarity in the year ahead.
If you’re entering this year carrying heavy things, let this be a reminder that even in the hardest moments, life offers small gifts worth noticing.
Addiction, anxiety, and depression can dull the senses, making even the sweetest parts of life taste bland. But in recovery, there’s a rediscovery of what it means to savor the ordinary.
A conversation with a friend.
A sunrise you didn’t expect to catch.
A sandwich, simple and perfect.
As we step into the New Year, I think about the weight of that phrase – especially for those of us navigating mental health struggles, addiction, or recovery. The moments we overlook, the small joys we take for granted, are often the anchors that keep us grounded.
On Warren Zevon’s final appearance on Letterman, knowing he was facing terminal cancer, he left us with a simple but powerful piece of advice:
“Enjoy every sandwich.”
It’s stayed with me for years.
"Time doesn't slip through our fingers, we slip through the fingers of time."
By twelve, he was positioning himself to be abused by older men through a variety of apps. By fourteen or fifteen he was doing the same things that were done to him.

It’s time for healthcare and mental health professionals to get comfortable asking this question. By normalizing conversations about pornography and sex addiction, we can address issues that too often remain hidden in shame and secrecy.
For millions of individuals, especially young men and adolescents, pornography isn’t just a private habit—it can spiral into a behavioral addiction with serious consequences for mental health, relationships, and overall well-being.
The most important question doctors aren't asking?
"Do you view pornography? Are you concerned about the amount of time you're spending on pornography or the type of pornography you're using?"
The topic is often overlooked by doctors, nurses, therapists, and others on the frontlines of care.

This will likely be unpopular among kids, but, it is the healthy move to make. Many addictions now start with social media and online pornography use. I hope more restrictions on underage porn use will follow.
Maybe someone will find this useful. Pornography addiction seems to be the most common form of infidelity today.
