This week is the first at the Daily News since Heath Freeman's Alden Capital laid off our entire print production staff.

It's embarrassing to open the paper we work so hard for each day and find mistakes like this.

Is this the level of editing New Yorkers can count on going forward?

For my last stop, a little after 1 AM, I met with the DEP Leak Detection team. They listen to the city’s pipes, block by block, to catch leaks before they become major breaks.

IIRC when LIRR went into arbitration in 2012, one of their explicit arguments was that they were the highest-paid rail union in America so any new contract had to maintain that status. The arbitrators agreed that was a reasonable position.

I heard “Hold On Loosely” by 38 Special in a restaurant the other night and thought, Dear God, sometime in 2031 @andrewhickey.500songs.com is going to do a subscriber-only bonus episode about it

That was about the only cop show worth watching in the late 80s. I recall it airing like five nights a week. And now it’s impossible to find, with a name that defies Googling. So thanks for this.

A guide to the Forverts archival coverage of the Triangle Fire The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was one of the worst industrial tragedies in America. On the eve of its 110th anniversary, read reporting published in the Yiddish-language Forverts in the afterma...

The publication I edit, @forward.com, bore witness to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that took place 115 years ago today. We pulled together a translated (from Yiddish) archive of the coverage. Just brutal reading.

Excerpt from "Our Band Could Be your Life":

With inspirational lines like "I live sweat but I dream light-years," the Minutemen felt their music was by, for, and about the working person. "The first thing is to give workers confidence," Watt said. "That's what we try to do with our songs. It's not to show them 'the way' but to say, 'Look at us, we're working guys and we write songs and play in a band.' It's not like that's the only thing to do in life, but at least we're doing something -- confidence. You can hear some song that the guy next to you at the plant wrote. The working-person idea ran deep.

I like to think of the Minutemen as a missing link between Creedence and Fugazi, not just in their music but also their belief that music should be available and accessible to the working masses

I gotta say — wearing this would feel like stolen valor. So much other cool merch can show your support and appreciation. But this jacket should be earned.

Occupy Democrats post: "BREAKING: Kash Patel was just busted LYING TO CONGRESS in order to protect pedophiles!
Rep. Thomas Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna have successfully been able to view a slew of unredacted Epstein files, and they discovered that Trump’s disgraced and wildly incompetent FBI Director Kash Patel has been lying to Congess, under oath, in order to protect the other rich and powerful men who played major roles in the Epstein sex-trafficking ring.
Thanks to pressure from Massie and Khanna, the DOJ reluctantly unredacted an FBI report naming Jewish billionaire Les Wexner, owner of Victoria’s Secret and notorious Epstein associate, as one of the co-conspirators in the sex-trafficking ring.
“This is significant because Kash Patel testified to Congress that FBI had no evidence of other sex traffickers. This is FBI’s own 2019 document listing Wexner as a coconspirator in child sex trafficking. It wasn’t unredacted until tonight,” said Khanna’s partner-in-justice, Rep. Thomas Massie, on Twitter on February 10th.
The two spent two hours on February 9th examining unredacted Epstein files and were shocked at what they saw.
“Most of the unredacted files were redacted—70 to 80 percent. Massie and I saw that there were six men who were co‑conspirators and were being protected. Those names need to be made public. "
"There’s no excuse for releasing survivors’ names while protecting these six men. There are probably more. In just two hours, we saw that these six men were being protected.”
Kash Patel’s FBI is actively engaged in a cover-up on behalf of serial pedophiles and must be fired immediately — and held accountable for his own role in protecting pedophiles."
