And this is why i sobbed playing Out of Words bc when they spoke about their game it wasn't about how many downloads they'll get or how small their dev team was. He just looked at me and said "this has been my dream since I was a child."
That is how you talk about games, not whatever this shit is

The new War Mech Pilot armor sets proposed in this week's TWID sound like an amazing idea...and with the upcoming Heavy Metal playlist it feels like the stars are aligning.

A graph of viewership data, it shows a large spike in viewership two days ago larger than anything else on the graph.

Oh, hey, new record. Not sure what caused it, because the last two days of data are an impossibility to parse. New highest viewership in one day: 2401. Broke the 2k barrier, congrats!

And there we have it! One year (plus two days) of Dorley Viewership Data! Let's hope this coming year is just as interesting!

Haven't actually seen any complaints...were they on bsky or elsewhere?

Interesting. That could explain why the number is about equal to past chapter releases despite the relatively late time of it going up! Usually if you have two days back to back this close after a chapter release, the spike is a bit smaller due to the viewership being split.

Based on an AO3 status updates account, looks like it was 3 hours from 5-8 Eastern on the 14th, is that about right?

More data to add to the pile! Appreciate the insight here, didn't know that was the case. Do you know when/how long it was down for? That way we can get a better sense of impact on the data, especially since the chapter release stacking seems consistent with other data anomalies.

It was really close!

So close, and yet so far. If the chapter had released earlier in the day, or @katie.bzky.team posted two days later, we might have broken 2 thousand views.

But hey: it's still a new record! Congrats @badambulist.bsky.social on 1884 views in a single day!

Well to start: Dorley is a Christmas book!

By which we mean Dorley viewership trends down in the summer and up in the winter, with particular growth during December. The interpretation we've derived? People find Dorley comforting and worth celebrating, so they read it during the season!

Only about a year's worth right now. But the long-term trends have interesting implications!

Going from prior data New Releases get a 1-2 day spike of about 500-600 viewers, and that is additive to any existing Data Anomalies in prior instances. So there's a slim but very real chance we hit 2k on chapter release, setting a new record in our data!

An image displaying Dorley viewership data. The is a large viewership spike on the 8th, much higher than nearly any other part of the graph.

@katie.bzky.team WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???? Seriously though, wow. We thought the prior Bluesky Jump (March of last year on the chart) was big. You smashed that out of the park!

Me: I would contend that games are not only art but theater, in which we trick players into becoming actors and feeling another person’s emotions by inhabiting their body

We have been summoned.

...We don't know why though. But at least the summoning ritual works, kinda!

We actually have a short essay on Dorley as it relates to LGBTQ+ studies we wrote for a college course some time back, if you're on the discord we posted it a while back in the lit analysis channel. Write them for class to force the profs to mark them too so we can dorleypill academia!

Please! The world needs more video essays on Dorley. And academic essays on Dorley. And overall just more people doing literature analysis on Dorley. We want to see someone who writes their doctoral thesis on Dorley someday!!!!

And we just realized we posted the wrong alt texts in each of the trendlines. -3.4724 + 157996 is the trendline for Feb 1 - Feb 28, and 3.3951x - 153369 is the trendline for the Feb 1 - Mar 18 graph. Sorry for the confusion!

Ya'll literally collectively read so much Sisters of Dorley on Scribblehub that you inverted the trendline we got from graphing the page view data for Feb 1-28.

Thanks, @anarchonion.bsky.social for creating a statistical anomaly that we felt needed graphing! You're too powerful for math.

...Didn't she make some now-deleted posts about it a year or so back on the social media hellscape we all fled?
