A few that come to mind!

Video Palace
Left Right Game
Carrier
The Gentleman from Hell
The Silt Verses (starts a bit slow but then I couldn’t stop listening)
In Another Room
The White Vault (Season 1–gets uneven after)

I also started Mirrors which is about a haunting across three timelines.

Now that a new issue is up, Defenestration is now looking for funny short stories and poems as we fill our December 2025 issue: bit.ly/105Enuu

If the August 2025 issue of Defenestration were a candy bar, it would be chocolate filled with assorted nuts, ghosts, and the yellowing pages books. It would also have been banned in three dozen localities for causing seizures in the humorless. Devour it here: bit.ly/3HxXXCc #DefenestrationMagazine

I've shut down the Defenestration inbox. Please don't submit any poetry or short stories to us until August 20th. We've got a lot of stuff to read through!

We're still open for nonfiction, fake nonfiction, and visuals.

You may like The Bletchley Circle? Outrageous just premiered and is getting buzz. For crime/thriller: The Fall, Line of Duty, Prime Suspect, River, Sherwood and The Sixth Commandment. Comedies: Chewing Gum and Stath Lets Flats. Utopia is also great. There are also so many great period piece dramas!

Agree that Brittany Runs a Marathon is (unfortunately) one of a kind. The Lunchbox gave me somewhat similar vibes. Haven’t seen Little Forest but it looks great.

KEXP, Radio DePaul and WERS (Emerson College Radio) are my go-tos when I am looking for new music in those genres. All of them have streaming options.

Unsound Methods was my first Recoil album. The song Stalker still gives me chills!

The Dark and the Wicked (always feel like it deserves more love), and The Last Shift (2015 version). Censor has a great premise but some consider it too slow (it has a great payoff, though!).

You Are Not My Mother and The Hole in the Ground are also great!

"How to Get Elected Mayor with a Hamburger for a Head," by Matt Leibel Wake up one morning and realize that you've changed. It's not just the ravages of time and age: your cranium is now a literal beef patty, encased in a pillow of bun, slathered with onion, ketchup, spe...

It’s 4/20, and I seem to have written a kind of Mayor McCheese fan fiction. Check it out along with other funny stuff from @defenestrationmag.bsky.social
