Because Batman beyond is “what if we made Batman into spider-man in a cyberpunk environment” and that implies it’s a marvel elseworld (probably of 2099)
Would be a better use of his character than they have made for almost 10 years
“PRIME KANG AINT GOT SHIT ON ME”
Oh my god
Dream kang recast?
Worked for war machine and Thunderbolt Ross but then again even in Brave New World neither is big bad
Wait why did Kang recast fall through? Association with majors and tepid reception of the character just scuttled it?
‘Famine and widening food insecurity are the foreseeable consequences of military aggression in the Gulf. That reality ought to weigh heavily on a world that has largely understood this war through the narrow lens of oil-price instability’

After huge progress on extreme poverty, Our World in Data is its decline coming to an end? Number of people living in extreme poverty, which is defined as living below the International Poverty Line of $3 per day. This is adjusted for inflation and price differences across countries. Projections from the World Bank based on growth forecasts from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Graph show progress levelling off
After the world made such strides in tackling extreme poverty, which seemed to be levelling off anyway, I really worry about the consequences of this war on the world’s poorest through the rise in prices of fuel and food

Yo dawg I head you like transformers so I put some general purpose transformers on your large power transformers so you auto-generate text while you suffer from a yearslong supply crunch
This is the face of a lunar scientist who has just been told that the #Artemis II crew saw SEVERAL impact flashes (the flashes when meteors hit the lunar surface) in real time 😃 🌓💥
Agreed but if you’re justifying funding the programs to 3rd parties, their motivation is going to be the (unintended or incidental) practical benefits in many cases
Not sure where the exact boundary between astrophysics, celestial mechanics, and the science and engineering of space exploration lies, but studying space more broadly enables satellite communications, GPS, possibly fusion. Also calculus. Science is great at producing useful knowledge spillovers.
I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake By A Horse Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food. I am thinking I would like to try cake. Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape. Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy. Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much. I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on." Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
a lot of energy/climate policy events i've been to lately have stressed that states can pick up the slack for the federal government thanks to "federalism" and states being "laboratories of democracy"
but i feel like this take crashes really hard against a bunch of states' balanced budget rules
i want a trillion dollar annual budget for nasa and interior so anyone who likes science and nature can get a cool job
All unhappy conferences are alike… but I would posit that those few happy conferences, like BNEF summits and fora, are happy in their own unique way. (Unironically believe this. BSky isn’t the place for PromotionPoasting.)
Would be curious to to learn more about this cube law and the degree to which it’s varied/circumstances under which it’s been followed to greater and lesser extents over time…
NEW: Dozens of robotaxis by Baidu stopped on the road in Wuhan, China, causing crashes on highways and trapping passengers in the cars—some for more than an hour. One passenger told me it took her 30 minutes to even connect to a customer representative.
Here’s a dash cam video of one crash.

"Taken together, these results indicate that conclusions about AI performance in weather forecasting remain highly sensitive to how extremes are defined, which hazards are considered & where the extreme events occur. This underscores the need for consensus-driven, standardized evaluation protocols."

Genuinely hard to overstate how much of a strategic defeat it would be for the United States if the war ends with effective Iranian control of the Strait.
