Small stuffed animal of a brown and white springer spaniel with a four small plushie normal curves oriented in different directions. Some of them say “ncme” and somehow have smiley faces and standard deviation lines.

I’m trying to use @andrewdeanho.bsky.social plushy normal curves in my zoom background to demonstrate multidimensionality.

I don’t think that it’s working.

Maybe I need to donate more to the NCME mission fund to get more normal curves.

The difference between this and most AI research is that this is attempting to find better answers of greater efficacy for difficult to solve problems.

Most AI research is about cheaper and faster, but not necessarily better.

Do they really want to subject US involvement in this Iran war to analysis through the lens of just war doctrine?

They seem to be asking for that.

How have you calculated those odds? Is the evidence for that stronger than the evidence that you did not buy in the latest article?

Though I generally agree with you on values and policy preferences, I rather disagree with you about political strategy.

But I have trouble imagining giving to the DNC, DSCC or DCCC ever again. They’re all fucking idiots.

Email does not have enormous latency. Nor does SMS. It’s the processing and queuing before the codes are actually sent.

Just think about how fast the fastest arrive. Even that is more than the latency of email or SMS.

They should just fix the rest of their systems.

Well, it’s not a problem when Boomers do it.

Duh!

Do you carry the plushies around with you, or can they only be picked up at particular times?

Yes, I think it’s meant to be taunting.

Yes, it is quite odd to have to ask such things.

Of course, I don’t go to Barrow Street since Anissa closed. It’s just too sad for me.

I am so crazy jealous.

Defaming someone in writing simply for the LOLs is libel. You have no claim of parody or satire. You have no carve out. You’ve admitted reckless disregard for the truth.

You’ve already admitted it’s a philosophy you have. You might wanna consider cutting that crap before you get sued.

I just wanna make sure that I understand your claim, here.

You never actually thought I was lying. You just thought it would be funny to publicly claim that I was lying.

Is that right?

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

I don’t need you to take responsibility for my inferences. I just would like you to take responsibility for your own words.

You’ve blamed a person you follow on twitter and you’ve blamed me. And yet it was your decision to suggest that I was lying—and do so habitually.

Would it fair to accuse you of lying for missing some states?

* Iowa requires a masters degree for their “master educator” teaching license.

* Louisiana’s level 3 requires a graduate degree.

* Nebraska.

* Nevada.

* Ohio.

Is just lying about things your philosophy?

Maybe more, as well.

It seems that bars have been lowered since I last looked seriously at the issue nationally.

But why accuse me of lying? I concede that I was wrong. How do you get to lying?

Full certification.

“Aligning classroom experiences and the real world”

What does that mean for a 10 year old? 6 year old? 14 year old?

What COULD that mean?

Seriously.

Most states require a masters degree for full certification.

It’s basically private schools that do not require masters degrees.

No, no no. They’re all rational actors with perfect information.

We are all rational actors with perfect information

Let’s be fair. *Maybe* he lied about it.

Or maybe he dreamed about it and confuses his dreams and reality.

Or maybe, his staff faked the call and convinced him that it was real.

So, don’t be so quick to judge.

So, it’s not just private intimate relationships. It’s also these big complex collective public relationship relationships, too.

The major issue here is that the needs ofcitizenship— a reason that many state constitutions give for establishing systems of education—are almost entirely made up of skills and ideas from those reading linked disciplines

STEM Fields require different sorts of rigor applied in different contexts. They prioritize and teach different kinds of analytical skills.

And therefore, they helped to solve different kinds of problems, even to see different kinds of problems.

And there are many other disciplines that lean on rigorous reading, but not quite as demanding as close reading. Social sciences, and qualitative fields— such as much of the humanities

There are disciplines where close reading is just fundamental, but not all.

Literature, philosophy and law are the biggest three that come to mind for me. Close reading is not just a tool for them, what part of the central purpose.
