how do I return to here and now?

I keep getting dragged back
to unfinishable business,
where ends that are unlikely to be anything but loose
are once again keeping me awake.

There is, coincidentally, a literal unfinished tapestry hanging in my room, in the here and now...

I sense a ritual to come

If you are feeling overwhelmed right now and want to do something.

The Senate is deciding whether to fund ICE through the next appropriations bill. Government funding runs out on *January 30th*, and this is a moment to hold
them accountable.

Please take two minutes today to call both of your U.S. Senators and ask them to vote NO on any bill that includes ICE funding.

Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard:
(202) 224-3121

Ask to be connected to your Senator's office.

At minimum you can say ( see below for more):

"I am a constituent from calling to urge the
Senator to oppose any appropriations bill that funds ICE. I will be paying attention to this vote."

Phone calls are counted. Bonus points to folks with Republican Senators.

For voicemail: Please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied.

You want to stop funding ICE, the Senate can do that. Government funding runs out on *January 30th* This is a moment to hold
them accountable.

Currently there are just calls to require agents to display IDs and unmask.

I donโ€™t think ICE should get any money until they stop terrorizing people.

Being vulnerable is not necessarily a bad thing. In some ways, the capacity to still find softness in this world is miraculous.

You just also get very good at dealing with disappointment.

For better or worse, to be hopeful is to be vulnerable

I have so many theories about what is going on in this book and simultaneously have absolutely no idea what is going on in this book

I'm loving it

Everything was pretty good... No clear favorite at the moment, but definitely a few contenders.

Have you read any of these? What was your favorite book from 2025?

I did fall back asleep and the next nightmare was towering sea wall, frozen waves, getting caught and smothered beneath the ice.

...Maybe I had too much chocolate too close to bed. I haven't had such vivid nightmares like that in quite a long time.

I thought when the plane/ship crashes in dreams you're supposed to wake up? Not continue on with the dream, in the cockpit surrounded by dead bodies, having to scan for life both amongst the passengers and also at the spaceport where you just landed... I think I might be done sleeping for tonight...

What a vividly horrible nightmare I just had that could definitely be the opening to a horror sci-fi video game.
