The bill will now return to the House of Commons, where MPs will consider the amendments made by the Lords.

Brilliant news. The Lords backed amendments to decriminalise abortion in England and Wales, end police investigations, to pardon women who had previously been prosecuted, and fought off anti-abortion amendments designed to limit choice and access. 🧵

A victory in the UK! The House of Lords voted 180 to 58 to support Lady Thornton’s amendment to pardon women who've been convicted of having an illegal abortion. They also rejected various anti-choice amendments, including one to overturn the decriminalisation of women.
