Ugh, dust!

Dust of the camera and go for it. I am slowly working my way through a few film cameras. Development cost is somewhat of an issue, but worth it. And B&W one can do at home, which helps.

Would you believe me if I tell you that the shutter speed was only 5 seconds?

Repeated 16 times to get 1 min 20 s total exposure time. I love the long exposure function of the Olympus system. Have one of the runners which I will post later.

A wide view over an ocean. The sun is visible at the top. Around the edges of the image, land is visible. Directly in the foreground, rocks and trees can be seen. In the distances, only the silhouette of mountains are seen.

A night scene of a harbour. Several boats are floating on green-looking water. The masts of the boats are repeated as if several images were overlaid with the masts moving between each exposure.

Bring a feather and some catnip :-)

Each time we visit a game reserve, I am tempted to bring a huge bag of catnip and dump it somewhere.

It is futile - you will never have enough space.

What you need to do is go through all the books, remove the ones you really don't need/want/whatever. Then put everything back that is left. Now this is where it gets interesting. The space supposedly gained by removing books, will be less by several orders of magnitude.

Been on that list for ages. Not entirely sure why. Although I am not a fan of AI, it has never been to the extent that anyone would really take notice. I think...? But I am also on an eclectic set of lists that is really strange.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 🌍 🌏

To mark this special day, we’re tuning in to Sen, the world’s first continuous 4K video livestream from space.

Sen’s cameras are hosted on our Columbus module of the ISS, with data delivered via the Airbus platform.

"Two strong cold fronts swept through the Cape this past weekend, bringing widespread heavy rain and flooding to multiple areas. Many regions recorded more than 100 mm over the 72-hour period."

Infrastructure can't cope with an atmosphere that is holding more water. This at ~1.5ºC of heating.

elon the white power dude has never applied for Starlink to operate in South Africa, so no application has ever turned down by the SA govt. But it rallies more white power dudes around his altar, so it's all good for him.

Q: What do Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Alex Jones, and Marjorie Taylor Greene all have in common?

A: They have all turned against Donald Trump for reasons other than him raping children.

Elon is English South African, not an Afrikaner.

How do you define raised? Thiel is German, that is correct. But he lived in the US from age 10 onwards. The short period he spend in South West Africa, he went to a German school in a town that was still at that time mostly German as well.

Where does the Afrikaner comes into the equation? Elon is English South African, not an Afrikaner.

Thiel is German. Moved to the US age 1; then to South West Africa age 4 - mostly still German then. Back to the US age 10. He is more American than South African and not at all an Afrikaner.

Right back at you :-)

It's five to twelve, minutes to spare.

I had a colleague many years ago, when you said, Good morning, she would shoot back: What's good about the morning. Reflexively think of her each time I hear a good morning. She probably had that kitty in mind.

The wife is constantly battling to get funding for MSc, PhD & Post docs. And more than just a casual here's something now please go away. Permanent positions seems to be waiting on someone retiring or worse. Sorry that this is happening, and good luck!

Once again, packing all my #books 📚 because yet another postdoc ended and I couldn't secure a permanent position. It might seem adventorous but it's also emotionally exhausting. This is #science too 🧪 A side we don't usually focus on because is not as glamorous as new discoveries.🧵 (1/3)
