it's also time for our annual reminder on international women's day that all trans women (like myself) are in fact women. there is no room for debate on this topic
a few more things about me that are further encouraging me to run:
- trans (need more π³οΈββ§οΈ representation)
- 22 (need more young blood)
- about to graduate college
- multiracial
- dad has many connections
- middle class household
- neurodivergent
this comes after pointing this out to a friend who told me i should run, and my interest in getting involved in local politics
i'm genuinely considering running for state rep this year - the person who was representing my district just won a special election to fill the vacancy in my state senate district, and this leaves a wide open state rep seat in my district
honestly, i wouldn't want to sit through 2+ hours of a 79 year old senile man who is somehow the leader of the free world. i think i'll fall asleep before he does tonight (at least he might be on national television if he does). gosh, what have we come to as a society?????
omg he did it again
i absolutely despise how it's still mainstream even after the fascist takeover... fascism is apparently mainstream??? ugh i hate this world we live in
ok HOW THE FUCK ARE WE IN THE SUPER BOWL?????? i did not have this on 2025/26's bingo card...
anyways... go pats!
been a while since i posted here but the patriots are in the afc championship game?????? is this a dream or am i still in 2018?
real
gosh i am getting terrible voice dysphoria rn :(
oh i would also love to see trumps reaction if the blue jays win the world series. idfc if they're also in the al east but i'm rooting for them just to see that
also haven't posted on here in a while, so here's my 2Β’ on a few things:
taylor swift's new album: 7/10
patriots season so far: 11/10 (compared to expectations)
red sox losing to yankees in the playoffs: -100/10
DAAAA JANKEES LOSE to the blue jays: 100/10
my stress level: 9999/10
obligatory /j
... i swear, if the pats lose to them this year, i am going to eat all of my hair
Any team who loses to the Jest is an embarrassment. Should be automatic Lolcow of the Week.
The NFL's previous walkoff tie came in 1973 when the Giants kicked a field goal to tie the Eagles at 23.
Regular-season overtime started the next year.
oh wait, it was possible under the old rules as well...
lol, walkoff TIE... only with the new OT rules i guess
just putting it out there, this seems to be uncommon. not expecting the sox to make the league championship series at all, really, but it would be nice
list of 88 (or fewer)-win teams to make the league championship series, full seasons 1995-2024:
2023 dbacks
2022 phillies
2021 braves
2014 giants
2012 tigers
2012 cardinals
2008 dodgers
2006 cardinals
2003 cubs
2001 braves
2000 yankees
1997 guardians
1996 orioles
1996 cardinals
(retrosheet data)
red sox have set themselves up nicely for september... going .500 in their final 24 games of the year sets them up for a respectable 88-74, which is usually good enough to make the playoffs with the expanded wild card (since 2022)
92-70 (at least) would be a better goal though
just don't collapse
clinching LAST PLACE in your division in August is just wild
2025 rockies have done just that, lol
(standings sourced from retrosheet)
a list of mlb wild card teams, 2022-present with standings after august and final standings/wild card position
so... yeah, 75 should be fine. there are a few oddities, though
(also, it would be fair to add a few games to 2022's totals because of the lockout at the start of the year, then compare)
need to stop being negative, but if the red sox can get to 75 wins by the end of the month (very much possible), i think they set themselves up pretty well for the 28 game stretch in september
