NEW: Since 8 a.m., former Eastern Michigan DB Freddie McGee III has stood outside the Detroit Lions practice facility, hoping to catch the attention of the coaching staff and front office entering the building.
Why?
To finally get his shot in the NFL.

No fifth-year options for Jack Campbell or Jahmyr Gibbs yet. But Lions GM Brad Holmes said those discussions have happened.
If it doesn't work out in the draft, he said they don't feel they have to supplement those position.

let’s do that hockey
That with Clark, and Harper back, safety depth is pretty solid.
Detroit Lions have re-signed DB Avonte Maddox
I love my job/travel. But I gotta say, 7 seasons in, November is already like a continuous punching bag on the brain with how fast it moves and how much is packed in. Not getting the bye with a likely heavy primetime schedule and the already complicated logistics of November seems wild for players.
No surprise, but Amon-Ra St. Brown is fired up for the opportunity to bring his and the Detroit Lions’ game to the German fans who are starving for more NFL football next season.
Campbell isn't downplaying the loss of the likes of Decker, Anzalone, Raymond and others. But he is pounding the table for Jack Campbell and Penei Sewell for being ready to take on even more as leaders.
"But I’m very comfortable with where we are. And every situation has been handled separately and differently. And I don’t have anything else to say on that.”
At the league meetings in Phoenix, several high-ranking sources believed the draft picks rule proposal was a test balloon - and one that more teams than publicly shared are interested in: www.nytimes.com/athletic/716...
Rod Wood said it's unlikely the Lions get the bye week after the Germany game. Working with assumption the game is in November, it's a tricky month with Thanksgiving game and after back-to-back years with two Thursday games (Wood is pushing back against that this year)

When I asked him about the loss of so much veteran leadership, Dan Campbell was quick to point to Jack Campbell and Penei Sewell as those guys who will step up the most. They drafted them because they were great players and leaders, and feels like this could be great for them in the long term.
Dan Campbell said the Detroit Lions will not have joint practices this year. He felt it was counterproductive and that they can get more by just staying put and working against themselves.
Lions HC Dan Campbell said he's ready to move Penei Sewell to left tackle. Not fully committing to that right now, but that's where he's at with everything.
"If you're asking me, I'd like to move him. I would. I would like to move him to left."
I spent three hours at Taylor Decker's Phoenix home yesterday to discuss a strange offseason. On his decision to return, then ask for his release, the plan going forward, and the uncomfortable lingering awkwardness he feels with Lions leadership. www.detroitfootball.net/p/communicat...

Detroit Lions have signed OG Ben Bartch.
