Who would win: one teenager or a multibillion dollar cartel industry with the best marketers, addiction scientists, and the most addictive drug in the world and more than a century of cultural victories?
Call me crazy but I think the government should protect the little guy

New Zealand was going to do this a few years ago but it got rolled back to fund a tax cut by their conservatives

I think it is good that NJ Transit will be charging wealthy ticket holders going to see a prestige sporting event at great cost to the host state a substantially higher fare, especially considering how much this is all disrupting normal service.
“The cross-boundary integration proposal threatens to dismantle that model by introducing fare barriers within the city, transferring control of routes to agencies and politicians outside Toronto, and creating a pathway for the eventual contracting out of public transit work.” Seems far fetched
I’d have to read up on Canadian labor law and read the bill, but these claims seem pretty extreme
Talked to a guy on the train today who worked at Cisco translating engineer speak into things their salespeople could say. Need him to work in CBTC badly
People look up to you and you’re being a baby and shitting on the thing you got them into.
If I were a somewhat major figure in the online public transportation scene (cursed), I would not doom post about how one bad project that everyone agreed is bad made me loose my interest in public transportation. That’s lame behavior.
Are we really promoting G to Forest Hills? I thought guys were supposed to be the technically minded advocates.
He's a pathetic, opportunistic grifter
A malcontent New York City subway conductor is facing a possible suspension for showing “gross disregard” for MTA policies and potentially more trouble for telling his coworkers not to show up for duty. Tramell Thompson has worked just a handful of days since March 17, 2020, according to MTA documents. But he is getting paid while out protesting the MTA and vaccine mandates — and drawing praise from anti-vaxxer Kyrie Irving. His social media shows photos of him enjoying New York Giants games and hiking with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in California. He says he was unable to work after being spit at on the job a year ago when he returned after a year-long COVID-19 related absence. Thompson, 40, heads a group called Progressive Action and rails against the MTA and the Transit Workers Union on YouTube. He calls his organization a nonprofit and asks for donations although there is no record of the group being registered in New York or with the Internal Revenue Service. An MTA internal probe found he posted copies of disciplinary reports of two workers on Twitter and YouTube without permission, according to a copy of the investigative report obtained by The Post. The report concluded his conduct showed “gross disregard” for MTA policies and recommended the agency take “appropriate action.”
This is all you need to know about Tramell Thompson nypost.com/2022/05/21/r...
Tramell Thompson (fired subway conductor and TWU local 100 nutjob) crashing out about bike lanes and bus lanes from inside his car.
Hell yeah dude
Could it be called STCUMers?

Clarissa Chervoni takes an express bus most days from her home on Staten Island to lower Manhattan for “peace of mind.” “I could take the ferry and the local bus to get home, but I prefer not to,” she said. “So I situate my money to accommodate that.” Chervoni thinks Mamdani’s fare-free plan – which has been criticized by MTA President Janno Lieber – seems even more unappealing for express bus travelers like her. “The people who pay for the express bus, which is the majority of the riders as opposed to the local riders, they’re the ones that fund the MTA,” she said. “I can’t imagine that they’re going to stop payment on the express bus.”
“they’re the ones that fund the MTA.” most certainly not!
There is no such thing at MTA Regional Bus. Somebody on some forum imagined it and now there’s a circular citation thing going on
I suspect Julie Menin spends her free time eating sheet metal
Breaking, from me: Sources show that the Interborough Express (IBX) rail line will be operated by MTA Regional Bus, a little known MTA operating agency. This comes amid speculation about operation of the line, whether it will be contracted, and what crewing will look like.
Streetsblog Empire posting a piece that makes a lot of easily discredited claims about the Newburgh Beacon ferry and bus service is disappointing. The new bus is a huge improvement over the ferry, in terms of both departures and service span
People making faces at Melania documentary ads on the Outfront screens in midtown, lol
It’s actually just a single row with a JSON column (stored as text) in one Postgres instance on a Dell tower from 2010.
Cubic Systems of San Diego has received an award from the Civic Software Institute for their monumental achievements with Clipper 2, including being the first fare system to use a single JSON file as a database. Congratulations to everyone at MTC and Cubic on this achievement!

Of course Amtrak giving up means the NEC will be extremely hard to start up tomorrow or Tuesday. The railroad only freezes when it stops moving! Absolutely feckless.
Every couple minutes an Amtrak cancellation announcement plays. Between them, LIRR announcements about trains running normally.
This shit is evidence of an entirely unserious attitude about NJT and Amtrak’s role in the region. I’ve spoken to multiple who are now stranded because NJT ambiguously set “2pm” as the closing time and then locked up NYP by 1pm. Moynihan is full of passengers who have been abandoned.
NJT and Amtrak cancelling everything over a foot or two of snow is really pathetic and unacceptable. The LIRR is still pumping out trains without problems.
