In the UK the NHS is absolutely overwhelmed, but the government has tightened the eligibility criteria for free Covid vaccination to the point that only a small minority of the population is eligible. Offering free vaccination to everyone would be an easy win here

I am 19 years sober today. This is an important milestone for me, because I have now spent more of my adult life sober than a drinker.

There is no single risk in the world that is currently more serious than Donald Trump.
This is quite obviously a threat to use nuclear weapons. It is very important to recognise this.
1. To forecast with rigour involves first understanding the events in the past that led to the present. As I have stated before, there is a direct line of causation from the political effects of the early Covid response to where we are now: the highest probability of nuclear weapon use since 1962.
4. As such, it is fair to characterise the actions of the current US administration as constituting one of the most pressing global biological risks that currently exists. Through both 1st and 2nd order effects, the policies of the US government are damaging global health.

3. The foreign policies of the US administration - cuts to USAID is a pertinent example - and the current war in the Gulf, which will adversely affect global medication and medical supply chains, and also increase global food insecurity, are clearly threats to global health.
2. The domestic policies of the current US administration - severe cuts to federal public health programs, reduced disease surveillance, and sowing doubt regarding the effectiveness of vaccines (to name but a few) are clearly risks to the health of the US population.
1. As I have stated before on this platform, political decisions are often inextricably linked with biological risk - governmental policies can both mitigate or increase (or even create) biological risks. In that sense, one cannot assess biological risk in isolation of politics.
