I had an art teacher who would always tell me to “stop that grinning” - to the point where she actually sent me out of the room for it…. I was genuinely like wtf!?? As I was even more miserable looking back then than I am now. 🙄
Sparks onstage, with pink spotlights on Russell and Ron Mael.
Sparks performing onstage.
A landscape view of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall crowd watching Sparks.
Me in the audience with pals Dee and Jane.
Seeing Sparks live in 2023 was probably the best gig I’ve ever been to, and tonight’s return to Glasgow was a worthy follow-up. I savoured getting to hear classics like Number One Song in Heaven one more time, and when the instrumental bridge hit in Beat the Clock, I may have started levitating.
As an only child you’d think I would have come to this conclusion sooner, but alas no!
Whilst drooling over the Pulp ephemera book (bought as a gift) I was hit with an ad for the 1998 concert I so desperately wanted to go to but my friends wanted to go see the flavour of the month instead. I wish I hadn’t felt such stigma about going to things alone back then. Regrets.
I feel like it’s having a resurgence - my evidence of this being that I got soaked in airborne hops twice this week. It happened A-LOT in the 90s when gigs were more like an endurance test and I’d come home with various new ailments.
Also beer at gigs isn’t cheap, so these people really are stupid.
Arse piece who pelted those of us in front of him with beer at the start of Mis-Shapes - well done for completely missing the point of that song!
a medieval style digital drawing in progress. there’s an ornate border around the edges, with gold hearts filled with flowers and pink and blue scrollwork, with some spaces left to be filled by little beasts. in the center, a sainted knight with brown skin, wearing the trans flag as a cape, sits on horseback and stabs a long spear into a dragon. there’s gothic text over the top and bottom of the image reading “A world without trans people has never existed and never will”
working on something sick as hell
Library flyer.
The Library!!!
New phobia unlocked as I just witnessed a pot noodle smash on the ground (narrowly missing me) having been launched from a multi storey hotel window. One of the yellow and white ones - it hit the ground with such velocity I thought it was a seagull at first!
That’ll be the wyndford flats down then! 🫨🫨🫨 shooketh in Anniesland
Feeling like a bit of a fanzine ynfytyn (fanzine idiot - datblygu ❤️) after being outright rejected by the zine fest. Flip flopping between completely giving up on diy cultures or making a zine about not getting a place and sticking THAT on the communal table. I’m not bitter you are.
So far today (at work) I have held a piece of stegosaurus spine in my hands… my inner child, the Dino nerd was ecstatic.
Well I left Peaches Goes Bananas feeling a bit green around the gills as apparently my system can’t process shaky/jumpy camera shots anymore. Which is a shame as I enjoyed it, even had my good friend who happens to be Canadian along to further explain Queen Street lore 🍑🍌
Anyone else spent the last episode of Uncanny equal parts shitting it at the terrifying events described but also swooning at the 90s dreamboat that is Julian?! The hair… that glittery shirt…My word.
…. I’m in the mood for violence… simply because you’re near meeee…
My wonderful friends fed me vegan pasteis de nata today and they were heavenly!
And yes of course I did quote Bella Baxter as I inhaled.
Tell me about it! With H&M selling Nick cave / NiN T-shirts and the like I’d assumed it wasn’t as rife. But it seems the creamy beige baileys ‘clean’ mob have taken umbrage
Teens were all footballer fades, beige clothes and shorts (in this fecking weather!) so there won’t be an original thought amongst them. But I was kinda like “THIS again?!”
Yes I wear a lot of black but I wouldn’t say it’s at all worthy of any passing comments. No naff pentagrams etc.
Yesterday at work I had some teen boys make the hilarious quip that “it’s not Halloween” as I passed them.
I ignored them, obviously but it caused me to have a dream (thanks brain) about one of the bullies from my primary school days returning to wreak havoc in my adult life. Awoke feeling uneasy.
If you see this, post something orange.
My VERY orange hair during lockdown.
I feel sorry for Orlok, hear me out: the poor thing was manifested by Ellen without consent… who took advantage of his desperation. Then when Johnny human comes along it’s bye bye count… until she is bored/not getting a shag. Being anaemic is no joke and iron tablets didn’t exist in those days.
you need to watch it with Jane, she has been told to watch as part of her counselling course. It’s interesting to hear her psychoanalyse each of them. Saying that though, this lot they should just change the name of the show to Cunts.
Apart from Minah, she’s ok!

Yes! I love Muriel too! Although I did spend a very long time worrying I would loose the ability to walk if I fell down too hard whilst drunk because of that film.
I’m attempting to not shop on the rainforest site this Christmas. And I’m buoyed to see that Hive now give the option to support Category Is Books as part of their local bookshop scheme! Result.
Spotify wrapped reveals I should really listen to something other than Karin Dreijer next year 😬
