Up early for a long walk and a hearty breakfast, before delivering some online training. Today's masterclass is called, 'Boys Do Cry' and it looks at practical steps that classroom teachers and pastoral leads can take to improve boys' emotional wellbeing.

People's comments have alerted me to the fact that actually, yes, lots of boys are really good at hugging etc. I think it tends to be the older ones. Positive!

I think boys need to get better at (consensually) hugging one another.

This relentless grabbing, play fighting, punching etc is getting tiresome now.

They want platonic physical closeness but society has rendered that unacceptable.

It's sad.

Morning everybody.

All booked up for this year and already have three September dates booked up for next academic year.

Still have the 8th September free and also the 1st September for staff INSET.

If you're starting back in August I can help you there too!

I'm on episode 3 of Twin Peaks. For the people who caught it the first time around, is it worth me persisting?

1 year ago 3 0 3 0

Have you managed to make up for it other ways?

I realise I now need to leave X.

My reason for staying is financial: I get a lot of job enquiries through here.

Leaving will mean losing roughly 25 thousand contacts.

Any self-employed people got advice for leaving X and making up for the loss of potential clients?

Glad I connected with you pal! Had a good laugh with you today and thanks for looking after me. The kids are lucky to have you pal.

A LEGO minifigure lies face down on a table.

Oh good. An after-school staff meeting where someone is reading a slide show out loud to a room full of educators.

Agreed. Might be tempted also, to say, 'some *choose* to see the phrase as...'

For what it's worth, I'm of the opinion that if you reject the term 'toxic masculinity' you're also the type of person that says 'not all men.'

1 year ago 9 0 0 0

I still continue to use the term 'toxic masculinity' and I'm yet to be swayed by arguments that the phrase is damaging to young boys.

Does anybody know of any actual empirical research into this theory? This idea that the phrase TM has a detrimental effect on boys' self esteem?
