AND they didn't excuse his behavior by showing what a genius doctor he still is. it's langdon who gets to make an unlikely save! so many US shows are like "yeah he's mean and messed up and treats everyone badly....but he's the best/smartest guy we have.....so....."
i didn't realize until i logged into this site that there's debate about whether he's misogynist or not. like. he obviously is??? do you need him to wear a sign or can we judge by the way he interacts with every woman on screen????
like the myth at the heart of white masculinity is that repression actually works. that you will achieve your highest potential only by smothering your vulnerabilities. meanwhile all dr. robby has achieved is alienating every member of his staff in a single shift
i respect season 2 of the pitt for saying "ignoring your depression & trauma doesn't make you the sympathetic hero, it makes you a problem in the fucking workplace"
cville: verified ICE activity this morning (Monday, April 20, 2026) at the Mallside Forest Apartments at the intersection of Mallside Forest Court and Putt Putt Place. three vehicles, six agents, rifle drawn. at least one person arrested.

guess who's never getting that yellow sticker again 😂😂😂🤷♀️
well. I'm going to sleep. if you would like to run for cville school board please call me bc these people are embarrassing (except Bryant, Cooper, and Richardson, who appear to have values & integrity)
another speaker telling the Board they don't give a shit about kids. and shaming the board for being disrespectful to Bryant. which, they are.
(former) mayor walker is lighting them the fuck up. i won't attempt to summarize, but she shamed the Board for continuing to uphold cville's history of racist policing.
it's a shitshow. they ultimately won't even put it as a discussion item for may. they seem unclear on their own policies. dr. gurley tells them they can't vote again unless there's new information.
she says it feels rushed. she's very very proud of all the work she did on the MOU committee. Bryant asks if she now thinks the data supports SROs. Dooley says don't attack her! Torres doesn't answer.
it fails. 3-3. Torres abstains. she clarifies that rescinding would have required 5 out of 7, rather than a simple majority.
Richardson says: rethink. revote. it's reasonable. we have a new board. everyone is present this time.
oh holy shit. Bryant just made a motion to rescind the vote!! Cooper seconded!!!
Meyer again (free me). he says the MOU is so great. wants to continue.
we're almost done with the slides. thank god. staff recommendation time. Dr. Gurley formally recommends they continue with their plan to put cops in school. he emphasizes how much community feedback they incorporated into the MOU, and thanks us.
UVA has such a deep bench of think tank-funded old guys who love to give public comment. an endlessly renewable resource
now Bryant asked Dr. Gurley: did Chief Kochis say he wouldn't sign an MoU without resource officers? Gurley says that's correct. there would be no need for an MoU without SROs. (untrue!)
the law actually just requires that a space is provided for the SRO to work. they do not have to patrol the halls or be present on a daily basis.
Lt. wade, the police liaison, is now doing the FAQs. it's the slide that claims they MUST have guns and MUST be in the building. Bryant asks if VA code actually mandates that they be in the building. it doesn't.
he is now just broadly stating that MOST studies show that SROs are good and effective. i don't really know how to comment on this other than to laugh?? like he's just a weird hack with an obvious agenda?
he went on to slam restorative justice in general, as a practice that doesn't work (!) or reduce racial disparities (!). he is the author of one of the only studies that found positive effects of SROs (that students "feel" safer). yes, he DOES look a lot like mitch mcconnell
she has a nearly fetishistic fondness for police radios. she wants one so bad.
one of them literally just said "there are no studies that indicate higher arrest rates for students." she said this sitting less than five feet from a truly staggering stack of research indicating this exact finding.
now we're at the part where they've called in two UVA professors to "review" their contract with the police. yes, they are the authors of one of the ONLY studies that found positive effects of SROs. yes, it is infuriating to listen to them.
she asks Powell why their slides don't reflect that info. Powell ends up saying she guesses people must change their answers according to who they're talking to.
thanks to community mutual aid (a teacher with a power pack 🙏) i am back in business!! missed a conversation on CSAs (the unarmed professionals who currently do school security). Bryant reported that she met with 7 of them and all 7 were opposed to police.
my phone is dying so i might have to take luddite notes and update this thread later! sry! Bryant says she talked to CSAs and they're opposed to SROs and have not been involved in this process. pushing Powell on why they didn't include them.
uppps i just lost my temper and shouted THAT'S NOT TRUE. kim powell claimed that their surveys have found that the majority of students, parents, and staff want SROs. she's referring to a 2023 survey that asked if we were "interested in learning more about YROs."
