The problem with alternatives, of course, is getting enough people to use them.
We'd probably have to encourage lots of other groups to start using the same platform together, to make it compelling enough for their followers to come along.
Actually, may be mistaken about Recon; will make more enquiries
Recon and Hunter both had their Instagram accounts suspended.
Just remember - Meta is no friend to the queer community. One of the Italian clubs had theirs suspended a while back, and so did ECMC.
Roll a double six and you have to go outside and confront the sinister presence lurking in the mist?
Have been talking to the fetish archive at Bishopsgate, and we're going to donate a few BLUF bits and pieces, including the BLUF Backstreet banner and some badges and tie clips, as the start of a little BLUF archive.
Quoting myself, as I think it's an important point. Electro is great fun; it can feel amazing.
But DO NOT EVER try it on someone "as a surprise" unless you have asked about health conditions. Modern pacemaker implants are invisible, but may still be affected by electro.

They look great, but honestly, I have enough trouble with ordinary ones ;-)
If you're travelling home today, have a safe journey. And why not enjoy Bruce Springsteen's "When I leave Berlin"

I'm actually 58, so even more of an old git. But I have been involved in community groups etc since 1990, so I've seen a lot of evolution.
And, a lot of people finding news ways of expressing themselves, in ways which would have been unthinkable as a kid in the 70s.
Yep; some of these terms are fraught with meaning, and we can never insist someone else uses them, but if someone feels comfortable, they should go for it.
Queer, to me, encompasses a lot of stuff - LGBT, non binary, kinky, and more; it's a useful umbrella for diverse groups. And yes, liberating
I suppose in that regard, it's a bit like 'queer' or even 'fag', which many people use as reclaimed words, though of course many others who would still never use it themselves.
"fag" is one of those ones I might use with close friends, like "You daft old fag" but I'd balk at using it for a stranger
Who wouldn't, if they could find a way?
It requires a conscious effort, I think, because once you start to see it, you realise how deeply ingrained in our culture it is.
But it's entirely possible to do, for anyone who cares enough about it, as you doubtless know.
And so I started to consciously check myself, whenever I reached for one of those words. May's policies, in my view, were bad on any terms. There was ample space to criticise without restoring to gendered insults.
It's hard, when you've grown up around people who use terms like "cow" and "b**ch"
Not just pop stars, either. Diane Abbot gets so much abuse.
Bizarrely, it was Theresa May that made me reflect on this; as Home Sec and PM, I thought her policies were awful. But I saw the abuse, and realised how ingrained it is in many of us to use sexist terms, refer to women as livestock, etc.

Here's your summary of leather events starting tomorrow
Sometimes, you read a piece of gay writing, and it’s so very much of its time that it almost hurts to see it in history’s rear view mirror; you wish you could send a hug back in time. In the 1980s there was SMart, “a newsletter of gay SM.” One of the features was a travel guide to different cities, called SMartacus. In the May 1984 edition, the author of that section writes an opinion piece, explaining how he is changing some of his sexual practices. “Worry I call it, some of my friends describe it as hysteria. Hysteria, I say, with 4000 people having AIDS, how can you not at least be worried? Well, they say, all those cases have been in the USA. In Britain we have only had 40. So far, I say ...” From SMart, a newsletter of gay SM, May 1984
History in the rear view mirror
Welcome to April! This month there are 45 events in the #BLUFclub calendar. #gayleather Find them all here: http://bluf.com/events/thismonth
Those who have been members for over a decade may remember the BLUF3 site had a random "featured member" on the Today screen
And every April Fool's day, we replaced their photos with a cute puppy.
Couldn't think of anything this year.
A little old, but for TDOV, once again, here's our post about BLUF's position, and why I think the T belongs with the rest of LGB

In case you're wondering, we've had top scientists assess the new BLUF admin team, and they're at least 27.3% more woke than me.
So, our policy of welcoming trans men to the club will not change.
Trans men are men. So they're welcome to join BLUF, alongside other men who meet our dresscode.
Giving Keith Haring vibes!
At QX, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our trans siblings. We honour their stories, amplify their voices, and fight for a world where every trans person isn’t just seen, but celebrated.
Because equality isn’t a slogan — it’s a promise. And we’re here to keep it.
Just like a baby bird, you could survive on food your partner chewed for you and regurgitated into your mouth.
But the real thing is altogether more satisfying, when you're a grown-up. And most of us don't need our "content" regurgitated for us as AI slop
Pattern matching - which is all this stuff really does - in images is an amazing tool for analysing things like scans, to detect anomalies that might be illness, for example.
But pattern matching in art? That's just paint by numbers, and as you say, terribly, ugly and childless.
“Uniforms represent power; to stand before someone, knowing that they can take control, admiring the fine details of their uniform, inhaling the heady smell of leather. To borrow a phrase from Wordsworth, it’s a sight so touching in its majesty.”
And here's a second snippet for you.
