It's to stop new owners buying 'on the cheap' and then spending on new players rather than covering debts. The rule is fine, but the previous owner should not be included in the calculation. If Storch is willing to meet the 25p threshold for other creditors, EFL can/should adjust that penalty. #swfc

Storch isn't an idiot (although he IS buying a football club...). He's aware of the potential. Large stadium, history, passionate fanbase. Get this right, invest properly and he can build a PL asset with a 45,000+ stadium. It's just a question of how much time/cash he's willing to risk.

This makes me sad, furious, and determined that we WILL get our Wednesday back. Chansiri has done untold damage to my club - our club. The EFL have punished us for that. We're gonna be relegated on minus points with about 6 senior players. Surely enough is enough. #swfc #FairDealForWednesday
Feels like the best strategy. EFL are definately not going to move on both the points and the ban. If we got the -15 reduced but can't sign new players we're stuffed. As well as the kids have done, we don't currently have a L1 standard squad.

Its an unsolvable problem.
Only way round it is to further limit losses in the EFL so you de-risk an owner quitting and leaving you in the shit. But then no EFL club will be competitive in the PL unless they bring in the same rule. Which they won't cos they'll be uncompetitive in the CL etc etc.

Can see the logic in keeping Pedersen. He knows the club, he's got the respect of the players, his loan signings have on the whole been pretty good. My main concern is that losing is a habit and if he stays he'll be under more pressure to start well than a new manager might....

While DC is considered equal to the other creditors, the rules are what they are. I don't like them, but I agree with the principle that a new buyer shouldn't be able to not pay credtors but spend big on new players instead.
What I disagree with is that DC should be a creditor.
As the clubs biggest unsecured creditor it IS all on Chansiri. He could do a Mel Morris for the good of #swfc and save us the -15pts and future embargos. I don't think he will.
There IS a case for changing the rules so the owner who caused the situation in the first place doesn't get his 25p back.

Nice post. A question - do you have any idea how much teams have spent to avoid relegation from Lge 1? As it stands we're looking at starting on -15 with a vastly inexperienced team and all manner of transfer embargos. Feels like survival should be the aim and I'm not confident lol #swfc
On the bright side, I've now got a new example to show my students about the importantance of getting the right data, presenting it in an appropiate format, and labelling it correctly...
And yes, I spotted that in a table showing "form for the past ten games" six out of the ten teams have only played nine. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
I know accuracy is important, but I'm not entirely sure why #bbcsport feel the need to report numbers of matches, wins and points to 2 decimal places... ๐คฃ
