Hardly a cracking story. One example of fraud being used to blame WFH. I mean, come on.

Don’t they already have this?
This is a fantastic book, so fascinating the threads we build our lives around without even knowing or thinking about them.
It’s a line that says a lot about the people who say it and the worst aspects of human nature.
Why we would build performance systems around it is beyond me. Your blog cuts to the reasons why.
You don't improve performance at work through performance reviews & personal improvement plans.
That's how you destroy performance.
Instead you ask people what holds them back & fix the environmental issues that slow them down.
Stop managing performance!

I remember the really bad old days of relative assessment a big department introduced mainly because some people complained in the staff survey about poor performance not being seen to be dealt with as though people needed to be put in stocks.
Dreadful system with predictable, toxic outcomes.
I’ve always thought this, at best people pay lip service to performance management and at worst, it can harm. Even “light touch” systems spend inordinate amounts of time on it to little effect.
No system is perfect but if you want to build high performing teams maybe start with the teams.
The real Northern Lights
Wow
Been walking through there for years and never really seen it, great pic

I wish I’d seen this advice a few weeks ago 😭
Jumping on the what's a perfect album that came out when you were 16, so many to choose, New Order, The The, The Cure, The Smiths, REM but this one has stuck with me, still sounds modern and contemporary...
