"We have to...find a way to move forward with grace, or as much grace as one can muster and continue to find purpose. To me, that is the message of this record. It's about resilience."
Found this article that names my collab with Sarah.
Her words give me life today.

Talking with an old music industry friend who’s also feeling a renewed sense of purpose in music.
As much as everyone is afraid of AI disrupting the creative process or the entertainment industrial pipeline or whatever, there are makers out here feeling excited to make stuff.
We still exist.
Text: In the 2020's, it's much safer to be an iconoclast than an icon.
We can’t stop a war, but we can do our part in destroying an idol.
This, at least, we have agency over.
It’s our Puritan birthright.

My guy, @fluxinflux.bsky.social, made me into a cartoon and I love it so much.

Today, I started the morning songwriting rather than immediately consuming news.
I managed to get something started, which I hope to work on more later in the day.
In an age of unrest, it’s easy for hypervigilance to supplant every productive, generative act.
Creation is an antidote to malaise.
I contain multitudes
We need to keep reaching for beauty.
Making beauty.
Longing for beauty.
We can’t settle on the ugliness of violence, indifference, and casual cruelty.
Justice…
Love…
Kindness…
Equity…
Bodily autonomy…
The freedom to exist…
There is beauty in these things.
We need to seek it out
and work for it.
In the midst of the global unraveling…
I found a new musician whose work I’m falling in love with: Ethan French.
Rarely have I ever seen someone with this kind of musical dexterity, fluidity, strength… and also a gentleness.
I’m a fan.

What’s always been so absurd about discourses surrounding political violence in America is that it’s accepted, understood, agreed upon, bipartisan, mainstream that our military gets to vaporize little kids half a world away without consequence
This one hits hard today.
All struggles
Are essentially
power struggles.
Who will rule,
Who will lead,
Who will define,
refine,
confine,
design,
Who will dominate.
All struggles
Are essentially
power struggles,
And most
are no more intellectual
two rams
knocking their heads together.

EARTHSEED: THE BOOKS OF THE LIVING
I’m halfway through Parable of the Talents, the Octavia Butler masterpiece. The book (as did the first in the series) feel like a warning, a prophecy, and a guide for survival.
I could find no bound collection of the Earthseed wisdom, so I’m considering making one for myself.
If you have musical Starter Packs I should check out, packs of creatives worth engaging, please share them. I’ve been a musical sponge lately. I want to hear what people are doing… what’s moving folks.
I’m intrigued by the current clash between “traditional” creative approaches to music making and the adoption of AI tools.
I’m not a purist in either direction. I’m just curious about how this can shake out.
I’ve posted my way through life changes, career changes, social and political changes, and changes of belief and practice. I find value in writing my way through life.
These posts may be brief, but they emerge from an expansive, sometimes confounding life.
It’s the end of ‘25.
I sit down at my desk with a yellow pad, a pen, and my guitar and I write a song.
While everyone debates the legitimacy of AI tools in the creative process, I go back to the basics.
In a similar but different move, I’m coming back to regular posting on social.
Is this your last printing?
In this past, I would have been arguing for a “better understanding” of the faith tradition. Today, I just point it out to show the logical inconsistency.
I can think of few statements that are more anti-Christian than professing to the world that you are “saving God.”
Gladly! And thank you! Shoot me a message to let me know how best to.
Um…. Pattern please!!
Tempted…
