Solved my horrible stench problem in the garage. Turns out when I was unloading a batch of podcast meat from a sponsor into the freezer I, uh, forgot something. The box was in the garage with some other boxes and I got a bit behind on breaking down boxes and... yeah. Yeeeeah.

Not just New Orleans but all over the south, gas stations can have very good food. I've had fantastic fried chicken, gumbo, and po-boys from random gas stations. If it smells good, give it a shot.
Eat a muffaletta sandwich. You could go to Central Grocery for the original but I'll eat one from just about anywhere.

Just south of New Orleans you can visit the Barataria Preserve and see some local wildlife. In my opinion, it's better than a touristy "swamp tour."
