Even setting aside the pernicious tactics of BIG BILLBOARD generally, this is an increasingly bizarre phenomenon by which most ads in public spaces are targeted at maybe 5% of the city's population while being wholly indecipherable to the other 95%. www.sfchronicle.com/projects/202...

The critique is always that “reform” or “progressive” prosecutors are “soft,” yet they are the ones with the courage to challenge authoritarian violence. bsky.app/profile/atru...
JUSTICE GABRIEL: Kind of a bigger picture, and again I understand the position Children’s Hospital is put in here. My concern would be, pick [a] rogue administration down the road. It would seem your argument is they could take any number of absurd positions on saying whatever care could be unsafe and that may be targeted at a particular identifiable group, and that identifiable group will always have no remedy because the government has all the cards and they control all the money. I’m concerned with that precedent. How do we write if you were to win? How do you write that narrowly to avoid that? Because your argument is, ‘We’re just subject to the federal government and they’ve adopted a policy,’ which I’m not sure if Children’s necessarily agrees with. But you feel like you’re just beholden to the money and therefore they’re always gonna win because we’re subject to them. That concerns me. How do we deal with that?
Colorado's Supreme Court just heard arguments on whether Children's Hospital Colo. should resume gender-affirming care to trans plaintiffs in the face of federal threats. Everyone sees the hospital is caught between Trump and the child patients. Justice Rich Gabriel summed up the existential problem
Pope Leo is no angel.
I love it when we refuse to settle for the way things are as the way they have to be. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/13/n...
The Pope is WEAK on crime is so gd funny; I am HOWLING
The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world.

The next administration must take the lesson of this one; every single immigration judge hired under Trump 2.0 must be fired on day one.
Yes, same concept as using your +1 to a wedding to peremptorily strike another potential guest.
You know what? I'll admit it. The credible threat by a madman to wipe out a nation of 90 million people for basically no reason (presumably using nuclear weapons) successfully distracted me. I am now distracted.
Chris Taylor just won Wisconsin's Supreme Court race in a landslide, growing the liberal majority to 5-2! They'll hold the court until at least 2030 now.
Flipping the court in 2023 was key to ending the GOP's legislative gerrymanders, giving Dems a chance to finally win full control of govt in 2026
Washington Post Trump warns ‘a whole civilization will die’ if Iran doesn’t make a deal The president had issued a deadline of 8 p.m. Eastern time for Iran to open up the Strait of Hormuz, pledging destruction by midnight if leaders don’t comply. April 7, 2026 at 9:22 a.m. EDT26 minutes ago 2 min
Completely unstable and perilous. The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization.
Trump insane Easter post
Mamdani warm and gracious easter greetings
One of these political leaders has been repeatedly portrayed as an untrustworthy radical hostile to others because of his religious beliefs. You’’ll never guess which one!
TRUMP: "I'm gonna fuckin' blow up all the fuckers! I wanna use all the bombs before I die! Helter skelter! Helter skelter! Race war! Race war! Fuck Easter and fuck you, too!"
NEWS: "Trump promises to strengthen military in early morning Easter greeting."
Look, everyone knows that the person in charge of federal disaster relief didn’t teleport 50 miles to a Waffle House in a Florida. But what our headline PRESUPPOSES is … maybe he did?

FEMA Official Says He Teleported to Waffle House. Experts Are Dubious. Gregg Phillips, who is in charge of responding to fires and floods, says the hand of God suddenly and mysteriously moved him to a 24-hour breakfast spot in Rome, Ga.

This has been true since January 20, 2025. Nearly every day since then Trump and congressional Republicans have done things that politicians would only do if there is no possibility of electoral accountability. bsky.app/profile/elie...

Just a blatant rightwing attack from the NC Supreme Court on public education, especially for the poorest communities, despite an *explicit* state constitutional command to provide a "sound basic education" to everyone.

The Department of State tweets a video of Secretary Marco Rubio. In the video, Rubio says: "Imagine if instead of spending billions of dollars supporting terrorists or weapons, Iran had spent that money helping the people of Iran. They would have a much different country."
FactPost News tweets a video of Donald Trump speaking at a podium. In the video he says: "We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things."
hmm
Yes and “liberal” “wins” tend to be preserving the status quo or merely “not moving law dramatically rightward,” while the Court routinely gifts conservatives huge policy gains. These things are not equal.
A reminder that win-loss rates for "conservative" vs "liberal" positions at SCOTUS reflect the composition of the Court's (self-selected) docket as much as anything else.
And in horrifying news, Idaho's governor has signed the felony bathroom ban, with 5 year penalties for second offense bathroom usage, into law.
This is the most significant criminalization of trans people to date.
On trans day of visibility no less.
It will require a new "Do not travel" warning.
Israel bringing back the death penalty that it had previously abolished *specifically* for Palestinians is an absolutely hideous crime
