look at my country man, we’re getting out-No Kings’d by the fuckin’ british
1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.
Nice 👌🏼
Also, English are migrants. Britain is Celtic. The Reformers would do well to remember this.
Yes, yes I know I keep banging on about my fucking book! However, if you want one repost this and I’ll do a random winner pick thing by the end of the week because I’m great like that. ♥️📚

7. Hope lies in the recognition that the left can also change the system. That the left too can mount a radical challenge to business as usual. It lies in twigging that elections here haven’t been won from the centre in years, and that this, if we can grasp the potential, can be used to good effect.
6. “Elections are won from the centre” is a mantra used to try to block challenges from the left. It says “you can’t win if you want to change the system”. It ignores the fact that first the neoliberals and now the far right have completely transformed – in some respects replaced - the system.

Whilst the overarching theme - how it’s all been supercharged, whilst no one is permitted to speak its name or understand how it drives decision making - would be soul destroying if not for the final few chapters on what can be done.
This is one I’ll go back to, I’m sure.
The Invisible Doctrine book by George Monbiot and Peter Hutchison
An incredible amount of power is stored in the relatively few pages of this excellent book by @georgemonbiot.bsky.social & @peterhutchison.bsky.social.
The back to basics (suspected) origination of capitalism on a small Portuguese island is as illuminating as it is surprising.

Empireworld book by Sathnam Sanghera in paperback
Not sure if enjoyed is the word, but ‘Empireworld’ by @sathnam.bsky.social is a vital read. Incredibly well researched and presented. It’s also written so as to be relatable to the author, not just a treatise on the subject matter, whilst nuances are adeptly handled. An engaging and profound book.
‘Saltblood’ book by Francesca De Tores
Really enjoyed Saltblood by Francesca De Tores 📖🌊🏴☠️
Iron Maiden performing ‘Run to the Hills’ live
Me and Jon and 70,000-75,000 other people at the London Stadium before the Iron Maiden gig

Well this was everything. Iron Maiden at the London Stadium 28/06/25 🤘🏼🎸👹
A gut-wrenching reminder that conspiracy theories and pseudoscience kills innocent people.
The extent to which Paloma’s care was influenced by her mother’s delusions is horrifying.
Beyond tragic.

‘translatio et imitator imperii’ aka manbaby wants to be king
Labour continues to make it clear that it’s an England first approach. The bitter taste in the mouth is that Welsh Labour is toeing the exact same line, whilst giving little more than platitudes saying that it is fighting for Wales. It is not. Nor would Reform or the tories.
Donald Trump. The instincts of Montgomery Burns, the intellect of Homer Simpson.

This image of the Ring Nebula appears as a distorted doughnut. The nebula’s inner cavity hosts shades of red and orange, while the detailed ring transitions through shades of yellow in the inner regions and blue/purple in the outer region. The ring’s inner region has distinct filament elements. Credit: ESA/Webb, NASA, CSA, M. Barlow, N. Cox, R. Wesson
The Pillars of Creation. Semi-opaque layers of blue, purple, and grey gas and dust start at the bottom left and rise toward the top right. There are three prominent pillars. The left pillar is the largest and widest. The background is orange near the top and dark blue and purple near the bottom. Some blue and white stars dot the overall scene. In this mosaic image stretching 340 light-years across, Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) captures the Tarantula Nebula star-forming region, including tens of thousands of never-before-seen young stars that were previously shrouded in cosmic dust. The most active region appears to sparkle with massive young stars, appearing pale blue. Scattered among them are still-embedded stars, appearing red, yet to emerge from the dusty cocoon of the nebula. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, and STScI
What looks much like craggy mountains on a moonlit evening is actually the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region NGC 3324 in the Carina Nebula. Called the Cosmic Cliffs, the region is the edge of a gigantic, gaseous cavity within NGC 3324. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, and STScI

Perhaps we can stop being so parochial about Starmer's trip to Washington now. It was a failure. We are in a battle against fascism. And every decision we make is judged by whether it assisted or opposed it.
It's been obvious since January 6 that he was an enemy of the USA, the UK & the whole of the free world. Everybody still in his camp understands this as completely as everybody against it. They just prioritise personal interest over the national & international. And they know it. They all know it.
For two men who have professed such hostility towards taking the knee, they are surprisingly happy to do it for Putin, in the Oval Office, in full view of the world’s media.
I think this is the closest many of us have ever got to seeing the real Trump. The only consistent thread in his entire unhinged rant was the love & praise for Vladimir Putin. Zelensky has more courage & dignity in his little finger than every member of Trump's regime & fan club combined.
