As someone on the spectrum, I can tell you, people don't want unapologetically weird, they want socially acceptable quirky.

I felt this on every level. It motivates all of my works when making games/mods for games.

The reason I started is because I thought it was cool. I still think what I do is cool. Everything that keeps me up til 4 am working on it even if its tedious or not really rewarding.
