Just like to point out that this academic paper ID’d Banksy as Robin Gunningham TEN years ago through geographic profiling - the authors must be stoked this has been confirmed.
Related, l remain wildly terrified by the existence of geographic profiling.

Just finished this - highly recommend - an excellent dive into colonialism, imperialism, empire and resistance. #sff #booksky
Wall Street journal article with the headline “Pope Leo Takes On Al as a Potential Threat to Humanity”
Finally, a Holy War I can join
Image of a screenshot of news headline, saying, "WhatsApp is getting ads using personal data from Instagram and Facebook Forced Consent & Consent Bypass / 16 June 2025 Meta announced today that it also wants to introduce ads on WhatsApp, which will be based on personal data from Facebook and Instagram. This further integrates WhatsApp into other Meta services - an originally independent app, which initially was available for just $1 per year without ads or data usage. This also means that Meta is consolidating its social networking monopoly. EU law was actually supposed to prevent this."
Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3
And one more. Today was not my day. Ouf.
Woke up to two more rejections today, ten for the year. This is good as my goal this year is "as many rejections as possible" but it's still not easy. At least in academia, rejections came with feedback. Here I'm flying blind.
So if anyone wants to give/swap feedback on short sci-fi, hit me up.
Just tore through "The Dragonfly Gambit" by @thesuiway.bsky.social A remarkably engaging story of love, revenge, machiavellian machinations, seduction, grief and loss. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Three shark heads at the Chania Maritime Museum, with googly eyes pasted to where their eyes should be.
Close up of a shark’s head with a giant googly eye pasted where the eye should be.
Who did this? Who is this artistic genius, this inspired mastermind, this absolute legend who works at the Chania Maritime Museum?
Novelette submitted! So glad to be able to read other people’s words for a while…
Finished the first draft of a novelette last night 🎉
Now to revise and try to convince someone to publish a 14000 word existential crisis of a story about art history, severed limbs, and … space whales?

Oh yes. It is the most questionable of life choices.
Almost every PhD I know is little more than a pile of questionable life choices duct-taped together under a baggy sweater - these are some of the most believable academics I’ve seen.
Goodreads snapshot. The text "Recommendations. Because you read A Moveable Feast:" followed by a cover of Immanuel Kant's "Critique of Practical Reason."
Sure, I mean they both make me want to drink heavily...
Slowly making it through my short story backlog and finally got to "Liberation" by @tadethompson.bsky.social
Love this story. African politics, colonial legacies, ingenuity and hope, beautifully written. Big fan of science fiction that is deeply rooted in reality.

What a relief, at first I thought this post was about writing.
Just hit 10k words on my work in progress, which is a huge milestone for me. Most of my work is 2500 words or less - I like to get right to the point it seems - so this is a whole new terrifying world. #amwriting #writingcommunity #writesky #SpecFic
This was fantastic
Definitely the standout piece of the latest issue of @clarkesworldmagazine.com - a beautiful and compelling read.
When I asked this same question to a colleague a few years back, they said it was better to go with “A Thousand Plateaus” - if I remember correctly his argument was that ATP was much more useful and applicable, while Anti-Oedipus was a specific critique of a specific discourse.
Thank you!!!
Can't wait to start this!
Oh also you can get the ebook right now for 99c, I am forgetting

Quiet plea from an unpublished: could more people please do this? It really helps to normalize rejections and emphasize that publishing is a marathon, not a sprint.
From someone whose current goal is “get as many rejections as possible”, thank you for sharing this. The transparency is super helpful (and encouraging) and it would be amazing if more people did this. I’ll post mine once I hit my rejection target!
p.s. did you know that 5 out of 6 Nebula novella finalists are also eligible for the Auroras?! Canadians are killing it this year!
