Europe should agree to spend as much % of GDP on defence as the US does. Simple rule. Ca. 3.3 today.

In my view Hegseth also said positive things, like support for "a sovereign and prosperous Ukraine", the need for a "durable peace" - things Putin will try to resist. But Europe must convince US to play a role in an eventual ceasefire monitoring - unless it won't be durable

2/2 What Europe should offer is rather security guarantees through air control and advanced hi-tech monitoring of the demarcation line with sensors, drones, and satellites -enforced with air power and other mobile assets.

1/2 The idea of European peacekeepers in 🇺🇦 in case of a cesefire is totally unrealistic. Europe simply doesn't have the troops. The idea is also very "20th Century", such as 🇧🇦 and 🇽🇰.
