A PERIOD PIECE
SET IN 2002
It was originally called “Tell Me” because that’s the most frequent refrain in the lyrics, so some people might remember it by that.
what do we have to do to not have an absolute fucking loser in charge
By the way, that half page is a bit of a cheat. I’m writing a period piece set in 2002, and there was a scene where a character is singing “Drops of Jupiter.”
So the lyrics made for an instant gain, but I’ve paid for it since then in having the song stuck in my head
Five and a half pages written!
Even as you see Tucker Carlson calling out Trump now never forget Carlson was front and center living out his “daddy’s gonna give his bad girl a spanking” fetish at a Trump rally during the election.
Carlson is a wanker and he always will be
I cannot believe how many politicians continue to post almost exclusively to the Special Victims microblog site
It’s the first actual episode of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, where you can run, but every 33 minutes the Cylons are gonna find you and attack again
this whole thing is very much like being locked in a room with a guy with a grenade who keeps being like IM GONNA DO IT IM GONNA PULL THE PIN and then is like “actually nah” and then everyone sighs but you’re still locked in the same room with the same guy and he’s still holding the same grenade
"absolutely no votes to confirm judges, cabinet members, or to advance or fund any policies for presidents that openly say they will end entire civilizations" is actually an extremely fucking moderate position
I try to remember @lewisdartnell.bsky.social's useful observation: In an apocalypse, the familiar landmarks are the first to be destroyed, but in a post-apocalypse they are all that remains.
I got engagement on a post here yesterday. I don't recommend it. People are weird, man.
"If you remove him you get Vance." You're familiar with Donald J Trump's foreign policy where we remove a country's leaders one by one until we get to one we can do business with? No reason impeachment can't work the same way
This is simply genocidal language and is a horror in itself.
I felt like that was a totally self-aware dig at their placement in the prequel series, mainly because I can't see any way they wouldn't have been aware of that.
I am here for messaging that the THREAT alone - regardless of if it's carried out or walked back - should end his presidency.
The die is already cast. You cannot wield the power that man has and say that kind of shit.
This is why we shouldn't bother trying to appeal to this idiot demographic
When my son was 3, he watched a lot of old MUPPET SHOWS, including the one with Elton John. First time he heard this song on the radio, by the first chorus he'd exclaimed "Crocodile Rock!"
By the second chorus, he was already singing along with the background vocals.
It was very quick, but that small moment where Valerie says she couldn't be with Mickey at the end because of COVID... Lisa Kudrow should get an Emmy just for putting so much into that while underplaying it too.
"The 25th Amendment must be invoked!"
No. The 25th Amendment is a *higher* bar than impeachment and removal.
Keeping Trump out of office via 25A requires 2/3 of the House, plus 2/3 of the Senate.
Impeachment is only a majority of the House, with removal remaining at 2/3 of the Senate.
When I see sitting members of Congress say "The Cabinet must invoke the 25th Amendment" what I hear is "Someone else - not me - should throw their bodies in front of this to stop it."
Call for impeachment and if you can't get that done make sure everyone knows who to blame!
Did they start timing who had more screentime?
When I was a lurker on TWOP, the point of no return was when the stopwatch came out. Happened with every show - ONE TREE HILL, SMALLVILLE, DAWSON'S... someone would post the screetime ship totals every week.
So we basically killed the "damsel in distress" thing. Like if she got into trouble we made sure it was believable and that it wasn't week after week of Superman saving her....
and then I started seeing female fans complain we'd destroyed the romantic fantasy of being saved by Superman.
Can't win.
It must be hard working on something and then watching another business steal it for their own gain without compensation and credit. Just imagine, a company -- nay, an industry -- so callous that it believes it can steal whatever it needs to sell its product.
The undercutting the intelligence thing... I at least can buy her as a strong reporter, but I HATE that one of the biggest legacies of her Lois is the "joke" that she can't spell for shit.
It's one of my least-favorite Lois tropes, especially done in repetition.
Obviously Bitsie's my #1. I think both Erica and Rachel are really strong contenders. Any issues I have with Erica I can write off as "she's still developing into Lois" and with Rachel it's "We don't REALLY know much about her yet."
I feel like Kidder is key in restoring some dignity to a character who up to that point in the comics, was mostly portrayed as someone trying to trick Superman into exposing his secret, or trapping him in a relationship. I think she's critical for every Lois we love who followed.
