the problem with it burning away is that the seal is now compromised - across the entire structure - we cannot patch hole and call it a day. this will probably require a whole new layer be build.

again in hindsight... not a great plan.

what the small hole does not show is that the impact ignited the layer of insulation that slow-burned away across the entire dome.
