The game will still be available on Steam, itch, Google Play, Evercade, and Antstream. The decision to delist on Apple's store is due to their annual developer fee - it just doesn't make sense financially to continue to sell there.
The iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV versions of my NES game, Jane Austen's 8-bit Adventure, are FREE for a limited time through the Apple App Store! The game will be delisted from the Apple App Store on November 2, so grab it for free while you can.

Attemping "vibe coding" a simple app this morning. It's really hard to me to NOT analyze all the code that's generated! I'm avoiding changing any code directly - I'm letting the AI do it all. I really enjoy coding, so it's weird being the manager.
Looks fun to me!
Another great computer knowledge bundle from @nostarchpress.bsky.social and Humble Bundle! A really solid selection here (disclaimer: my book is included)! Check it out if you want to dive deeper into Computer Science and support @eff.org.
I'm pleased to find PS/2 ports on a used Dell OptiPlex I just bought. A serial port too!
Yes, exactly. Some of both, I think.
A bootleg (unauthorized) copy of the video game "Jane Austen's 8-bit Adventure" for the Famicom
I bought a bootleg copy of my own game! It's strange seeing a physical reproduction of my work, especially with custom label art (with a copyright, ha). It's an older version of the game, not what was used for NES cartridges. Also interesting that it's for Famicom, since we didn't do a FC release.
Making an LLM's weights publicly available and then calling the model "open source" is like saying an application is open source because its binaries are available to download.
Easily my favorite Star Trek.
When I first heard the Ninja Gaiden 4 announcement today I assumed the 1991 NES game was finally getting a sequel! Turns out that's not what's happening.
I was never very good at Final Fight, but I was one of the better Street Fighter II players at my local arcade. Not a pro or anything, but good enough for a small town! Street Fighter II is still one of my favorite games of all time. It never gets old.
Final Fight was my favorite game for a short period of time, and then my local arcade replaced it with Street Fighter II. I was so aggravated that the arcade took away my favorite game that I wouldn't even try SF2 for a while! Eventually, I tried it, and SF2 became my new favorite!
I'm re-reading "Star Wars: Legacy of the Force" (book series). I much prefer Jacen Solo's story in Legends over Ben Solo's in Canon.
Indie Heroes Collection 4 from Evercade will include Jane Austen's 8-bit Adventure! Looking forward to this one - Feb 2025!

Anyone else still listen to CDs on their Dreamcast?
The LLM only remembers previous interactions because that information is provided to it with each subsequent prompt. As a user, it seems that the LLM is maintaining state, but as a developer, it becomes clear that the LLM needs to be fed that history.
Breadboard with LEDs and an IC, connected to a Raspberry Pi
Working with my daughters on a project. I suggested using a shift register to overcome a lack of output pins. I found I have four 74HC595 chips on hand. I hooked one up to remind myself of how they work!
Yeah, I have mixed feelings about this.
There's a bootleg copy of Jane Austen's 8-bit Adventure for Famicom for sale on Aliexpress. They even created custom artwork for the label that includes my company's logo and copyright - ha! Looks like it's based on the pre-release demo version.
Helping my daughters with a project on ESP8266, and MicroPython code calling an HTTPS endpoint was failing. Turns out the ESP8266 port of MicroPython has "No support for Diffie-Hellman (DH) key exchange and Elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC)". That was an unexpected limitation.
