I enjoyed 20, but it would have been really hard to top the incredible chemistry and controlled chaos of 19

We can tell America is a failing empire because you've reached the past now where you appoint the kind of inbred, to oafish leaders who'd send troops to walk slowly across the Somme through enemy fire

Well it's an unusually long gap between 'implicated in horrible sex crimes' and 'embraces the right' (usually only takes a couple of weeks), but the pattern still holds.

Apparently the picture was AI generated as well so I guess Chibi discovered that fictional images CAN have a real life effect after all

When the 'It's all this one guy's fault' narrative started taking shape I felt certain they must have paid him off to take the hit because why would you try to make a fall guy out of the guy whose job is literally to comb through your dirty laundry? Forensic Kier strikes again!

We'd be getting the full Olly Robbins/Sue Grey/Jackie Weaver fantasy cabinets and Caitlin Moran would have written an entire column about her bizarre psycho-sexual fantasies about him

Genuinely incredible for my imposter syndrome to see the Prime Minister using the same kind of excuses I use for not completing my annual workplace H&S training in time

Hegseth would absolutely do the scene where Rocco comes home in a panic, tells his girlfriend he shot her cat, points a gun at her and then himself

The impression I get from the outside looking in is that AI coding tools are a bit like Tesla's FSD. You're supposed to be babysitting it every second but that's exhausting so people eventually just get lazy with it, drive their car into a school and get told they weren't using it properly

I mean don't get me wrong, we're not talking Roger Deakins level here, but I'll take what I can get from a big-budget videogame adaptation, y'know?

Street Fighter | Official Trailer (2026 Movie)
Street Fighter | Official Trailer (2026 Movie) YouTube video by Paramount Pictures

The thing that excites me the most about this movie, apart from looking deeply bonkers, is they appear to have discovered... colours? And lighting? Those shots in the big arena look a bit Olympus in Thor 4 but otherwise this is a nice contrast to Netflix Lighting

Good thing the British government has an extremely non-contradictory and clearly-explained policy on the Iran strikes.

Aah but have you considered that these are old rocks, and not brand new rocks?

But seriously they started blocking access because people kept chipping bits off as souvenirs and there's a rare lichen that grows on them that dies when it's touched too much so it's like a preservation thing

They still let you touch the Avebury Stones nearby last time I checked, if you fancy a nice henge.

Both these men would go on to 180 in their views on the subject particularly after Roe v Wade and later in the 80s where the battlelines of Dems = pro, Repubs = anti got drawn in the sand. Before then, though, it wasn't nearly as clear-cut.

In our lifetimes, maybe. Always? Not really. Before Roe v Wade and the activation and co-option of the 'Religious Right' it was way messier. You had a lot of Catholic anti-abortion Democrats in the 60s and 70s like Ted Kennedy while Ronald Reagan was expanding abortion access.

I mean for fuck's sakes, the first modern government to legalise abortion was the Soviet Union in 1920 and I doubt you'd consider them centrist.

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

Fuckin' where? Because it wasn't in Britain and America where socialist feminists like Stella Browne or Marie Equi were advocating for abortion over a century ago or suffragettes like Emmeline Pankhurst were hanging out with Keir Hardie and the ILP before forming the WSPU

A significant percentage of your average centrist's mental energy goes towards finding ways to admit the left was right without giving them any credit for it.

An actual German speaker could doubtless come up with something better but, in their absence, and unless anyone has any better ideas, I'm going to coin Belastendfreude for incriminating joy.

Nothing will re-energise the right quite like some aggrieved whining from a man who looks like the living embodiment of the 'No little German boy!' meme

The Kill Baby Hitler episode should be that Hitlers life is basically an ongoing temporal warzone of time-travellers attempting to kill Hitler and other time-travellers trying to stop them while Hitler goes through life completely unaware of the spy Vs spy bullshit happening around him

Our POV character is the regular human pilot/security chief who thinks they have nothing useful to contribute until they realise their interest in classic detective fiction has honed their investigative abilities and can pick up clues the others might miss.

Crew are mostly scientists that are all fringe sci-fi concepts themselves. Physics chief is a guy who got cloned in a transporter accident and petitioned to be legally recognised as a single person with two bodies. Engineer is a non-corporeal lifeform
