This Southern California-raised kid believes in you.

No more ICE.
Absolutely owning this stage.
One of the best perforners, every single time.
Bringing that queer and gritty Jersey power.
♥️ Halsey.
The people are boldly empowered to hate me, my family, my neighbors with a fresh vengeance, interpersonally as much as systemically.
Anyway- happy Pride?
Let me know how y’all cis-het folks are atoning for your sins and showing up as allys daily?
🌈
Notice how the popular press reports J Joss’ murder. Then, read what his husband wrote. Read what the queer voices wrote.
Also, if you aren’t seeing reports of queer and trans folks being murdered in your feeds daily, just know it’s not because it’s not happening. 🤷♂️
W: “That’s cool. Next question, dad: is Jesus alive today? And, are you telling me he’s older than BOTH original Super Mario Bros on NES and my Nana?”
We are on. A. Roll. W/ the theological pop quizzes over here. 🤓⛪️
Photo of the third grade Bible scholar who is real into his Bible stories lately.
Me: “So, here’s the deal, Jesus is all human and all God, all at once. Kinda like how Piper the puppy is Lab and German Shepherd all mixed up together, y’know? And, like sometimes more one than the other?”
The Park Rangers at Independence Hall in Philly are literally the coolest people ever. Inspiring, drummed up the Patriot within each of us.
Power to We the People! ✊🏼

Early mornings on the jersey shore with my girls. And, my mid-May shore footware. 🤷♂️🕺
It would not be the worst thing in the world if Bluesky became known as the social media site people just hung out at and enjoyed themselves with
A+ for this Boston College pup who successfully greeted 40 or so undergrads on their last day of their ‘Mind of a Dog’ course. Kept four paws (mostly) on the floor, earned many kibbles. Nearly 7 months old, this scrappy baby GSD/lab is such a delight. ♥️
Sunday strolling after worship. One of the most centering, deeply moving moments in my life is when I stand next to my son for communion. We bend time and join ancestors. Or, when I prop up his head while he naps on me in the pew. Or, when I sing my great grandparents’ hymns next to him. ♥️
Meanwhile, i’m in the backseat, napping, eating snacks and looking at antiques on marketplace 🕺🤷♂️ so, we are all having a nice evening!
I’ve never appreciated this co-parent/partner of mine more than these past two hours in which she has genuinely engaged, with joy, this movie that I cannot possibly even fake attention and enthusiasm for. She’s a total champ and this kid is thrilled! Thanks, Minecraft! Thanks, co-parent!
Lovin this night out at the WooSox game! I really appreciate how easy, affordable, and family friendly these games are. For $15 bucks, I can park the car. For $3 I can feed the fam dinner on burger night. Perfect weather.
Alright, Riot Fest!
This’ll be a real fun time with the fam. Looking forward to the newly minted 4th grader getting some good live music education in Chicago. 👍👍
Saturdays are for good friends and leather. 🕺💅♥️🌈⭐️🔥
But, it’s all the right kinds of power and love that rolls tomb stones away to reveal a liberated body (of people) ready to dance.
Blessed Maundy Thursday, 2025.
Remember.
And then, resist, for love’s sake. And then rise, again- for love’s sake. It helps to know that it’s the wrong kind of power and fear and self centered ness that nails God and goodnesss to the cross.
In a time such as this, all I want is ritual, that sustains and nourishes, grounds and connects. Delights and emboldens. Today, we feast, in love, knowing that there is trial ahead (and behind and in the present) and long nights before resurrection. It helps to rest, in love...
Grape Fanta in his Mason jar, tres leches on his fancy plate, his mom watching him and smiling, his graphic novel Bible open to the story we share in…
If for this alone I studied and prayed, wrote and discerned… that is more than enough.
If the only reason I did a Masters and a Doctorate in theology was to lead my child in the rituals of our faith, on the floor of our living room, surrounded by candle light, icons of his choice in the center, my grandparents’ rosaries around his neck…
Where would folks recommend a currently-US-based mid-thirties queer trans activist/organiser look for residential graduate programs in Ireland?
Someplace with awesome research/thinking/writing happening from the more radically anti-assimilationist fronts…would be what he’d be most into.
Your periodic reminder that one way to think about privilege is: who's allowed to make mistakes?
the thing I hate most about that rfk quote is that autistic lives have value and worth and beauty and dignity whether they are able to do the things other people do or not. no one is defined by ability or lack thereof and to frame divergence as lack is monster stuff, utterly godless
3. (Cont.) And, if it’s a time when our bodies are safer than others bodies to be there in person-that’s just what we do, with God’s help. We then reviewed the ways to think that through- we are white folks, who speak English and have US birth certificates. That means, in this case, we show up.
3. Anytime people/systems say that some people are more important than others, more worthy of dignity- we are required to call out that shit. We have to show up and say that that is never ok.
Told him the point was:
1. This is how we DO our religion and prove we got the point of all our Bible stories
2. This is part of the magic formula.. we pray and light candles, read our Bible, discuss. AND we hit the streets to march. It’s a magic formula with God and humans working together.
