Agreed! I started these from seed in Autumn of 2023, planted out Spring of 2024, and am getting my first blooms this year. It's absolutely worth the wait.

Forget watching paint dry. I've spent the past two weeks waiting for the first bloom to open on my native Eastern Red Columbine (aqualegia canadensis). #nature #nativeplants #gardening

Why, yes, I do explore my native garden multiple times a day, every single day. Ohio spiderwort (tradescantia ohiensis), foxglove beardtongue (penstemon digitalis), and holes in a log from overwintering insects. #gardening #nature #nativeplants

My dad was adopted by an orange street cat. He fed her 9 lives, probably just because it was the first thing he grabbed, and we always called her Morris as a nickname. Pretty sure that was his favorite cat ever.

Maple trees have flowers, but they're small and easy to miss.

If they used C-130s to transport the vehicles, it would take at least 2-3.

Finally, pin oaks are relatively short-lived compared to other oaks, but they're great for wildlife. All oak species support hundreds of animals and insects, either directly or indirectly, with food, shelter, nesting/host plant, and more.

Oblong, or egg-shaped. The lower branches angle down, the middle ones grow horizontally, and the upper ones grow toward the sky. Foliage has the typical "oak leaf" shape, with a small "hair" at the tip of each lobe (only occurs in red oaks). The acorns are very small (less than 5/8in or 16mm). 2/

Pin Oak (quercus palustris) has been a favorite of mine before I knew anything about native plants. A small stand surrounded my elementary school, and I'd pocket the tiny acorns for no reason other than they looked cool. They grow quickly, initially taking on a pyramidal shape before becoming 1/

There's one that comes to my backyard every spring. It hangs out way back, so I've never seen it on the ground, but when it flies, I can see it. 10/10 bird friend.

Yeah, so this and that one bill (unsure of the status) that's worded to allow Trump 3+terms tells me 2028 elections will be purely ceremonial.

Golden Alexander is one of the first things to bloom in my microprairie. The picture on the left is this year's growth coming up. The one on the right is from last year when it was 2-3 feet tall and in full bloom. #gardening #nativeplants #nature

I've heard the same with monarda didyma - people usually end up with monarda fistulosa. But at least both are native. There's a lot of preying on people trying to do good, especially with wildflower mixes.

Everything about it makes me happy! I've been spreading it regularly in my native garden as well as anise hyssop.
