You can‘t go wrong with the Whigs. Black Love is fantastic too, for different reasons.
The new stuff is fantastic as well if you haven’t tuned in.
Afghan Whigs, “Gentlemen”
I’ve probably listened to this album more times than any Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice in Chains combined. And I listened to those a lot.
It’s angry, passionate, wistful, soulful, and a goddamn hourlong gut punch.
On a whim, I fire up The Lost Room and wonder what @christopherleone.com has been up to. Turns out he’s got a new #film @code3movie.bsky.social coming out in like a week! What strange serendipity.

It had been a minute since I’d last seen American Psycho and I have to say it holds up well. If anything the satire is sharper. Either that or my POV is wider. Plus, Guinevere Turner was a delightful guest! #film
Finished the purge of SmartThings in favor of HomeAssistant. #HomeAutomation can be a fun hobby but I had soured on it. Turns out the platform was the problem. The enshittification of SmartThings is really evident in hindsight.
Awesome shirt; the hat’s not bad either.
I just watched Lake Placid this week so that’s a guarantee.
Not sure which concert I’m looking forward to more: Ghost next week or Castle Rat next month.
These exotic Dr Peppers are the best diet sodas! I don’t see the strawberry one much but the cream soda one isn’t bad either.
I’ve been a homeowner for over 20 years and when I needed one the other day, I realized I did not have a can of WD-40. How is that even possible?
Sometimes — often — when there’s a song or jingle in an ad I think about the dignity of the professionals that went into a studio and sang that shit into a microphone. Which is to say there might be an application for GenAI we can all get behind.

Orange cat looking out the window.
Hammond is a street #cat. He came around for food; we TNR’d him & he didn’t come back for 6 months, but then he stuck around. He moved in late 2022 and tomorrow we’ll say goodbye. He was all about that housecat life but FIV had other plans. He was a very sweet cat and getting sweeter by the day.
Simple, feel good thing to do today.

😂👍🏼
You probably know this but: Edgar was voiced by Bud Cort (Harold from Harold and Maude) and Miles was portrayed by Twin Peaks alum Lenny Von Dohlen (RIP).
Honestly the soundtrack is 75% of the movie. I hope it holds up in the streaming era.
This movie (and soundtrack) is firmly part of my personality!
VHS nostalgia in horror makes a little more sense but I don’t really miss the experience of watching tapes. I do still have a VCR but do not have an audio cassette deck. But I also have an HD-DVD player, so I’m kinda stupid.
As an 80s kid, I really don’t get the Cassette Culture thing. They’re objectively bad in every way, and the only thing that was ever good about them was portability, which is a solved problem.
Bring back the semicolash.
I like money too. We should hang out
I really need to finish up my Mission: Impossible rewatch this week, huh.
Roger Cobb (William Katt) has the best looks in this movie. Belt and suspenders. Monochrome with pleated chinos. And the best V-neck since the invention of the damn thing.
The way I remember Shadowrun releases worked was if you played SR1 with the splat books you were already playing SR2 but with bad combat rules. Likewise SR2 into SR3. It was more about picking a world state than a rule set and SR3 had the best world state IMO, though many SR2 books are great reads.
SR1 had style for days but I just remember it being borderline unplayable. 3e is peak Shadowrun. Fight me.
I had to break down and buy the German import BluRay after suffering another new years viewing of the sad US DVD release.
This is good news for everyone!
Freaky Tales was a lot of fun to watch with a festival crowd. Everyone just loved it.
I saw it at Panic Fest and it was top tier for me. Glad it’s getting such positive attention on Shudder!
