In the first four days of the Iran war, the US and its allies launched more than 800 Patriot missiles, about 200 more than Ukraine received in the past three years, according to Zelensky. Since the start of the full scale invasion Ukraine has received around 1,000 patriot missiles. Last year, Lockheed Martin, the American defence manufacturer, produced 620 of the missiles, although it plans to scale up to 2,000 over the next seven years.

JULES BOYKOFF
As a poet, public-facing scholar of sports politics, and former professional soccer player, having represented the United States on the men’s U23 national soccer team, Jules Boykoff draws on his lifetime of athletic experience to reflect on the practice of kicking. With short vignettes blending the personal, the reflective, the historical, and the analytical, Kicking is uniquely positioned to reflect on the most popular sport in the world. From the act of kicking a soccer ball, Boykoff looks outward to his own family history, including his mother’s struggle with polio, which fed her insistence on his athleticism; to broader trends like greenwashing and sportwashing; and to reflections on sport’s toxic masculinity, the poetics of on-field revenge, and the power-politics of both the men’s and women’s World Cups. Kicking is a must-read for all those who love the beautiful game.

"In this poignant memoir Boykoff writes about his passions, family then football, in a way that offers an opportunity to engage with the vulnerability of one of the world’s best public scholars. We know Boykoff won’t stop advocating for better sport, and for the people who love it.” — Shireen Ahmed, sports journalist and Senior Contributor with CBC Sports

Wide landscape photo of a dramatic mountain valley at golden hour. Steep, rocky slopes rise on both sides, forming a narrow V-shaped corridor. A braided river winds through the valley floor, reflecting warm sunlight. In the center of the image, a bright neon-green graphic overlays the scene: a large letter “V” hovering above a solid green oval shape, both clearly artificial and contrasting sharply with the natural earth tones of the landscape.

Zaboravljena romska partizanska jedinica - Wer Ist Walter

Ono što je činilo ovu jedinicu posebnom jest da se njihovi borci nisu htjeli odvajati od svojih porodica, a ponajviše su savjesno izvršavali zadatke rekvizicije oružja i materijalnih dobara od neprijatelja.

It was incredible to see Chelsea Manning speak at @mozilla.org Festival yesterday.

When she was arrested in 2010 I helped organize to free her and raised tens of thousands of dollars for her legal fund.

To see her free and advocating for people-powered technology was immensely gratifying.

I just heard that my NIH grant was terminated even though it was approved and the contract signed more than a year ago and the money was already transferred to my university. The grant focused on migration and health. This is so disruptive to science and to many people working in research.
