As much as I say I could never live somewhere where I could see my death coming for me (tornadoes, hurricanes etc)...I DID NOT APPRECIATE THE 5.0 WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

I always love watching #NoKings stuff since I am...EXTREMELY wary of participating.
I appreciate those who do it, for those who can't. πŸ₯°

Ah...recruiting for the VA's (privatized) future I see. 🫩

What would you, oh dear internet, do in this situation short of hoping that the first bus continues to be insanely early (thus making it so he can't catch it)?

2 months ago 0 0 0 0

Its a public bus & lord knows anyone can walk the same route I do but I don't want it to become a habit.
He's not local to the US (not sure where) so he might have different cultural cues too but I'm also weirded out that a man invited himself along with me.

Since he didn't know the route, I had to show him. He also walks with a slight limp so I had to slow my pace for him to keep up. When we got there it was just awkward standing around when I normally walk a few laps around the area.

Recently there's been a new commuter who also rides both buses. The first one has a HORRIBLE habit of being 10 minutes early to our respective stops so we started talking about that. I made the mistake of mentioning where I get off the other day and this morning he got off with me.

Context, my first morning bus arrives to the transfer point about 30 minutes before the next bus. In order to kill time I've been riding to the next stop and walking back. Its a quiet time where I listen to music and drink my coffee.

Tossing this out to the internet...but how do I tell someone I do NOT want company on my morning walk/commute?

This is Alex Pretti.

What's really sad about the execution of #AlexPretti is I am 100% sure we won't hear a fucking word from the higher ups tomorrow.
Or what we do hear will be absolutely nauseating.

You ever do the nine months back to figure out what was...going on? I was the fourth anniversary. 😬

The problem with being an only child to elderly parents is that one day you will have to see (at least one of) them nekkid.
Today was that day for me.

Of all things on my 2025 Bingo card, finding out via MRI that I've got broken vertebrae and my uterus is back on its bullshit?
Was not it.

Cue the weird form of survivors' guilt as it looks like I will be paid a full check today. I'm not going to consider it DONE until my credit union processes it & it's applied to my accounts.
I'm so sorry for all my federal family who won't get this relief. πŸ’”

Remember that tonight.

I want the history we need to learn from to be after I've died...not from my time at university. This whole ordeal STINKS of 2003.

I love that all the coverage (that I'm seeing) is of local protests and not a HINT of anything happening in D.C.
...if there is anything happening, I wouldn't know because there's no coverage! πŸ˜‚

Someone yell & scream really loud today, for those of us who can't join the #NoKings protests.

Okay. Maybe it's my inner Californian...maybe it's my inner (former) ER staffer...but WHERE was Heathrow's electrical redundancy?
Part of this is rhetorical and part of it is genuine wondering WTF.

...aside, I hope my system ISN'T still in use because good lord it's been 20+ years and you can't tell me a 24yo created a perfect system no matter how much guidance was given by my professors. Plus attitudes 20 years ago aren't the same as now.
Improved upon or dropped entirely either works.

That being said, if my system was used or IS still in use I hope it helped however it was used.

I took a peek at my university on the little tracker/checker provided. Looks like they're at 50/50 for ID'd remains and those that have been repatriated. I'd love to go back to that room, to see who I remember and if they're still there, but I know times have changed. I wouldn't be allowed.

Holy crap.
20+ years ago, this was my university internship. My job was to come up with a way to easily identify the people while also giving scientists information without needing to see the remains.
It's an experience that has stuck with me for so many reasons.

3) Sort of ironically enough too?
My red hair is from the Scandinavian side of my family. Everyone clocks me as of Irish descent, but for the wrong reasons.

2) I love blowing a hole in the family myth of Black Irish...you know that whole thing of the defeat of the Spanish Armada in the 1500s and sailors blending into life, spawning brunettes?
Hah...no. Someone lied. It's probably the Iranian influence.
Never talked about THAT when I was a kid.

Now see I will quote my percentage for a few reasons...
1) I'm over half British Isles/Irish. But my family WASN'T part of the diaspora. We came over much later & much richer. My family name is scattered across the Bay Area for "Reasons".
We may be from Connacht but likely by way of the English.
