After the election, teachers and the community will need to continue the fight for full funding for public education.
If Labor wins, this means holding them to account and pushing for full funding sooner!

In the coming weeks, when you head to the ballot box, consider public education and supporting your local school.
Not once has Dutton said he would lift the government’s Schooling Resource Standard share from 20% to a minimum of 25%. In 2013, the Coalition promised to honour Gonski agreements then ripped them up and cut $30 billion from schools in the 2014 budget.
Full funding means:
- smaller classes
- more support for students with disability
- more resources for schools to respond to behavioural issues and differentiate curriculum for students
- more time for teachers to plan lessons and support students
- capital works upgrades
98% of public schools are not funded to the School Resourcing Standard, identified by Gonski in 2011, as the funding needed to meet the full educational needs of its students and reduce the impact of social disadvantage on educational outcomes.
We’re at a turning point for public education.
The Fed gov has promised to full funding with $4.8B for public education over the next decade. The Greens want full funding sooner.
As Opposition Leader, Peter Dutton has never once supported the full funding of public schools.
This is the wrong approach.

Those eligible would likely still be in major mortgage stress with high repayments, although significantly reduced by the scheme.
While too low in the first place, the Help to Buy scheme income limits are trapped in 2022 and haven’t adjusted with inflation spikes leading into 2024.
The vast majority of teachers, RNs, firefighters, and ambos will be above the income cap and ineligible.
Arcane season 2 was a bit of a flop imo.
Tried to do too much and departed from the dynamics that made season 1 great.
Tbh, I suspect Labor is pretty fine with not implementing this policy, considering the increased cost and opportunity to wedge the Greens on it.
Personally, I hope the Help to Buy passes, but if it doesnt its due to Labor’s arrogance.
The Greens have shifted their demands significantly. Labor doesn’t have a majority and they need to be open to negotiation.
