This book grew out of work for a counter-report to the historic World Food Conference of 1974.

It's a classic...and that cover!

We can move beyond the capitalist model and save the climate – here are the first three steps | Jason Hickel and Yanis Varoufakis Capitalism cares about our species’ prospects as much as a wolf cares about a lamb’s. But democratise our economy and a better world is within our grasp, say Jason Hickel and Yanis Varoufakis

"The solution is staring us in the face...we are the producers of the goods, the services, the technologies. It is our labour and our planet’s resources that are at stake. And so we must claim the right to decide what is produced, how, and for what purpose." www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Photos of Alex Pretti with Sara’s caption:

On August 16th at approximately 10:00 pm
I received a call from the ICU at the VA saying my Dad had sepsis and needed to be intubated to stay alive so Josh and I headed in. We were greeted by the kindest, most calming and warm soul who helped us understand what was happening and showed deep care for us and my Dad. He continued to show utmost patience and kindness over the next few days as my Dad remained in the ICU and we were there continually. It was Alex Pretti, the man shot today by ICE. If you see this video and don't think it's murder, I don't understand your thinking and ask you to question your heart. He was out there trying to help and protect and from the little we knew of him, it doesn't surprise me he was not afraid to be on the front lines of this horrible scene in our Minneapolis. Weeping for his family and all those at the VA who no longer get to work with him or receive his care.

My friend Sara posted this about the superb care her father received from with Alex Pretti

Absolutely heartbreaking

As we prepare for 2026, remember we have the power to make our future | Rebecca Solnit We enter 2026 with radical uncertainty about the fate of the US – but also with the clarity that people have the power to determine what it will be

As a year of institutionalised lying comes to a close...remember, a new one is about to begin!

Interesting podcast...

You state:

"It is true that we eat a lot of shit in the US...but it’s not shit because it’s grown industrially."

Disagree...main goal is maximising profit which means UPFs which are the least healthy for people and planet.

Quality, health, politics strangely absent in pod.
