Madame Tussaud’s is much like the Mousetrap in that its continued success is based on brand recognition and not on any actual inherent capacity of being good

I am very interested in the idea of LDR funding going to places like Mill Media rather than the likes of Reach - can’t help but think they might make better use of it

Feels to me like if I am choosing to work in a cafe I have to accept it’s not my workspace to shape as I want - if I need a quiet space for a meeting there are places that provide that sort of thing. There’s an implicit bargain about the use of the space that means I don’t get control

I endorse this message, but only if they go along with misattributed or fake Orwell quotes

Feels like it connects to Badenoch’s revealed character flaws as well - complaining about things like a pub bore is easy and allows you to spout off, while making things better requires hard work and working with other people, so no surprise she would reject the latter

If you go to delay repay on the TOC website, the first question is “did you complete your journey” and if not you need to ask for a refund. So which is it?!

Hoping someone on here follows me and understands the intricacies of train tickets refunds v delay repay… If you start your journey but end up giving up and going home, which is the right option? Refund via ticket supplier says you must not have used your ticket, which we technically did, but…

I think pre-Covid the Centre for Cities were strongly pushing the case for residential in city centres being key to reviving those that were struggling, which made a lot of sense then and makes even more now

LAs don’t set business rates - they’re set by the valuation office and councils have very little wiggle room

Some of my favourite episodes of eg Buffy are the ones that do almost nothing to advance the overall story arc - they’re usually the ones that bring the joy and laughter

Tbh I think this broad view applies across pretty any policy domain (both the drivers/levers and low expectations issues) - eg most of the drivers of health outcomes are not in the gift of the NHS. One of the reasons the thinking behind missions was so welcome…
