So much of our language reflects
the common “car first” bias around our streets, & we should never forget that much of that language was the result of deliberate campaigns to specifically re-write our perspective of streets as “for cars only.” This is one of the more subtle, but important, examples.

"He [Starmer] has brought a rot into the heart of our politics" - Zack Polanski
polanski is just holding starmer to the same standards starmer held sunak to. i can't understand why labour thought they'd get a different set of rules.
Graph showing percentage of seats contested by the Green Party at each set of local elections, year by year. 2026 shows a record high at 89% (previous record was 72% in 2025)
Fantastic work by @greenparty.org.uk activists across the country
In addition to our full slate of 96/96 in Wales for the Senedd elections, we are standing a new record high % of local election candidates in England: 89% 📈
Huge thank you to everybody standing, election agents and officers 💚
Enough is enough.
Starmer must go.

Utterly surreal, Keir Starmer's Downing Street didn't think Peter Mandelson needed to pass security vetting 😱
Olyy Robbins,"There was no stipulation from No 10 that Peter Mandelson should be vetted"
"A position taken from the Cabinet Office was that there was no need to vet Mandelson"
INSANELY powerful speech about one of the most evil, legal industries: Big Tobacco.
This industry kills 8+ million people/year. More than HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria combined. The #1 cause of preventable death on earth.
Yet the fight against it gets just 0.1% of global health funding. 🧵
@sianberry.bsky.social and @zoegarbett.bsky.social joined the National Housing Demo to demand rent controls and outline why voting Green on 7th May is a vote for affordable housing.
The thing about Starmer and Mandelson @mrjamesob.bsky.social isn't so much the mistake of the appointment, as Ed Miliband rightly observed this am, even prime ministers make mistakes
It's about setting standards then applying them fairly, which is what Labour suggested they would do after 14 years
Ellie Chowns, "Prime Minister Keir Starmer was more interested in pandering to Donald Trump than with standing with the victims and survivors"
Keir Starmer, "I wasn't given the information I should have been given"
Just a gif of the EU flag projected onto the London Eye as part of Mayor Sadiq Khan's London's New Year's Day fireworks 😀
The UK is £90 billion a year poorer because of Brexit i.e. tax rises and spending cuts, it's absurd
One day soon the madness will end and the UK will #RejoinEU ☺️

Stephen Flynn, "The most important truth in this entire process is the Prime Minister of the UK chose to ignore the victims of Jeffrey Epstein"
"The PM blames all of this on the judgment of others"
"But I'm interested in his judgment"
"Does he believe himself to be gullible, incompetent, or both"
Diane Abbott, "It's one thing to say as he insists on saying: nobody told me, nobody told me anything"
"The question is, why didn't the Prime Minister ask"
It will never stop being odd to me how many 'libertarians' support involuntary work, and even with technology capable of automating work, they still insist on keeping work involuntary because otherwise people would have the LIBERTY to choose to toil less… IN A SOCIETY WITH LESS NEED FOR HUMAN TOIL."
The oak you’ve known for years, the patch of grass suddenly alive with bluebells, or the shortcut where traffic fades into birdsong...
Local nature brings everyday joy.
With big decisions ahead, MPs need to hear why it matters.

Scathing form Labour veteran John McDonnell
"And when he became PM the reward for McSweeny was control of No 10"
"And for Mandelson the highest diplomatic office"
"And the unspoken message for civil servants: what Mandelson wants Mandelson gets"
Emily Thornberry calls out Keir Starmer,
"Doesn't think look like that for certain members of the Prime Ministers team, getting Peter Mandelson the job was a priority that overrode everything else"
"And that security considerations were very much second order"

"Having an [unconditional basic income] was such an eye-opening and different experience for them that really moved them forward in ways that are tangible, but aren’t as popular or sexy to talk about in policy...
If someone’s telling you it’s changed their life, you need to listen to them."
