❌ Not Free Speech: Exercising one's right to peaceful protest against those advocating your exclusion from society – on the campus you have to live and work in

Incoming Hungarian PM Péter Magyar calls for the UK to rejoin the European Union:
"I remember when I was a diplomat in Brussels... We were able to influence decisions. At the time, the Brits were also part of the EU. Let's hope they will rejoin."
To 'Vance'; verb, to fuck up.
Errors were made by the Student Loan Company (SLC) or universities, not by students
It's the universities' responsibility to give accurate information to SLC
It’s SLC's responsibility to check the information
Whoever's at fault, it's not the 22,000 students

The notion that the UK can feed itself is a fantasy, and hasn't been true since before WWII.
Trade is obviously essential to the well-being of the people of the UK, while James foolishly advocated for enacting trade sanctions against ourselves in the form of Brexit.
These are not serious people.
Aha. I needed the alt-text.
... what, what have you done ...
Oooh, did the named Crew NPCs make it in?
Worth noting that Donald Trump just announced the end of NATO and the Special Relationship in one tweet.
I'm not sure if @hazelsouthwell.bsky.social has already seen this, and at this point I'm afraid to ask.
Now *this* is the correct response to a surge in the price of petrol and diesel – well done Victoria!
Don't cut fuel duty. Cut demand!

A favourite things is watching a kid get on the DLR in London and run to the front seat, so they can pretend to drive it.
It never matters who is sitting there. EVERY adult gets up and concedes that seat.
As humans, we recognise and are bound by a sense of joy and wonder. Above everything else.

Imagine a computer like a PDP-11 but with more than 3 billion SP4T switches. The switches are various combinations of 'magic' and 'more magic'
the authors of the code are dead, there are no comments except for old code, and sometimes the comments run anyway

In which the US president tells you implicitly and then explicitly that they are not on control of events and indeed that they do not know what is happening.
The intention, of course, is to bully and give an impression of exercising power, but the impression conveyed is the opposite.
The evidence is overwhelming: Brexit has been a disaster for London and the UK.
Rejoining the EU is now clearly in our national interest. The option to rejoin should be on the ballot at the next General Election.

I loved re-listening to @wilwheaton.net narrate @scalzi.com's Interdependency trilogy recently. :)

Save the Data in Plain Text Files ABSTRACT Spreadsheets are widely used software tools for data entry, storage, analysis, and visualization. Focusing on the data entry and storage aspects, this article offers practical recommendations for organizing spreadsheet data to reduce errors and ease later analyses. The basic principles are: be consistent, write dates like YYYY-MM-DD, do not leave any cells empty, put just one thing in a cell, organize the data as a single rectangle (with subjects as rows and variables as columns, and with a single header row), create a data dictionary, do not include calculations in the raw data files, do not use font color or highlighting as data, choose good names for things, make backups, use data validation to avoid data entry errors, and save the data in plain text files.

Brilliant news! The UK's Labour Government are going to make "plug in solar" legal.
Grab some panels from Lidl, hang them off your balcony or out your window, plug them in to your mains. Done!
