the position finalisation is on september 12th actually. so there's really not much time left to take action at this rate, but i highly recommend you take a minute to email your MEPs about this if you're an EU citizen, as again this is basically mass surveillance in plain sight

voting deadline is on october 14th for this btw, so act while you can

anyways, if you're in the EU I'd suggest filling this form in and getting in contact with the MEPs of your country asap, in the hopes to still turn this down while we can

not just that, but using a local AI on your phone in order to scan said messages, one that likely is very poorly put together and has no concept of context or anything, is for sure going to trigger a lot of false positives and accuse people of a lot of stuff they've never done.

i don't think i need to explain how horrible removing any form of encryption in chat applications opens every EU citizen up for not only mass surveillance, but also mass cyberattacks. it's wild to me that the EU tries to pass this on still after it's been turned down so often
