Stealing from public museums to sell to obscenely rich private collectors: unbelievably bad.

they're doing a thomas crowne affair remake and as much as i love that movie it feels like the wrong cultural moment to make a bored billionaire who steals priceless works of art from the public into a hero

CDC won’t publish report showing covid shots cut likelihood of hospital visits The report, which had cleared the agency’s scientific-review process, had been delayed. It now won’t be published at all, people familiar with the decision told The Post.

SCOOP: Two weeks ago, the head of the CDC delayed publication of a report showing covid vaccine cut likelihood of ER visits and hospitalizations by half. Now that report is no longer allowed to be published in CDC’s flagship scientific journal. My latest. 1/2

I miss being in love, the romantic tension, the intimacy, the little things that only make sense to us, the intensity, the soft touches, cooking for them, i miss sharing that with someone

Well that goes along with the dismal reality that you don’t own anything you purchase online, you just rent it until the corporate overlords decide to pull the plug.

During the peak of COVID, a number of parents learned or re-learned that teaching is difficult. But this has had no lasting impact. Hasn't translated to calls to increase teacher pay, for example.

As a former federal official, it pains me to say it, but we will need to clean house thoroughly and start fresh with rules to prevent politicization of the workforce. Need new PMI program to recruit best and brightest. Reduce # of political appointees across govt.

We Need to Prepare for the Mammoth Task of De-Trumpification The damage he and his cronies have wrought could take decades to repair, particularly when it comes to science and public health.

The task of de-Trumpification of science and public health will take a generation and a "Marshall Plan" to rebuild. Without a bold, expansive vision to guide us, there is no coming back. Small-bore, poll-tested versions of the future will not help us. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

When we talk about climate change, a lot of weird looking numbers can get tossed around. Metric tons, millions of tons, and so on.

How do we make sense of this, and put it all in context?

Welcome to “Carbon in Context” by Project Drawdown. It helps you see the bigger picture.

talkin bout gender makes everyone feel better, too bad they are trying to outlaw talkin bout gender. If we can't get men into therapy, atleast get them "talkin bout gender"

"Talkin bout Gender" should be an am radio call-in show that runs 8 hours a day, I am deadly serious.

Life is hard, but operating from survival mode cuts you off from the people who love you and will help you navigate the ups and downs

You're having a nervous breakdown because you keep masking around your loved ones. Stop hiding. Give them the opportunity to show up for you, too.

Want you to hear what I’m about to say very well and let this bless you: every conversation is not for you. You are not the center of the universe to the point where your opinion is needed for every lil thing. It’s ok to not say anything.

I'm not Pollyannish about this. I think a lot of people are *casually* cruel.

We're embedded in systems that make cruelty (or maybe more accurately being mean) the default. And people don't necessarily think a lot about it. But when people REALIZE the harm, they're causing most try to stop.

Hey, as a CEO who recognized our workers' union at the company I was leading, I can confirm these points, though I'd add some nuance. *Starting* these initiatives during a union drive can definitely be seen as union-busting; their existence is not necessarily inherently seen as such by the NLRB.
