everytime theres another round of Geese discourse im like "yup i still think theyre a good band having fun with it" then when I re-listen to Heavy Metal i'm like "GOD IS SPEAKING TO THIS BOY"
ok... i may take a break from marathoning every Throbbing Gristle show to check it... the guys are always a comfort and inspiration even if they are a bit too prolific for me to keep up sometimes ๐ญ
havent checked out a new one in awhile...๐ค
reading multiple books on Throbbing Gristle and getting into the live recordings is really helping me out honestly, giving me a bit of a boost creatively
while i dont agree, i do think that Cameron saves his best material writing-wise for his solo work, which is more exploratory in its language and poignant in its imagery, like he's much stronger as a scraggly yet thoughtful wordsmith and arranger than a rock star.
also im not too concerned with rock music i guess, so my opinion only means so much lol
honestly i think the appeal of geese has very little to do with guitar work, and more to do with songwriting and structure. the rise to fame was viral marketing for sure, but there's def a lot of curiosity at play in the work itself. that being said i think Cameron is more genuinely exploratory solo
what, only two?
on the other hand tho, while reading I definitely thought "yeah, Gen hit Cosey for sure..." :/
as much as I personally don't like Gen, I do feel inspired after reading their book about COUM and TG and all that... prolly what they would have wanted!!
KCLS was a godsend when i was a teenager, I absolutely got the TG albums from there
re-obsessed with Throbbing Gristle, devouring any books I can find about them and related projects...๐ญ
well this was an interesting back-to-back read... lots of complex feelings here, but I came out of it loving the music of Throbbing Gristle more, didn't really change my perception of Gen tho...
started Genesis P-Orridge's memoir, and already like... idk... might get a bit grating reading a self-described "cultural engineer" describe how important their art is... we shall see
i think you can also tell when someone views writing as just a way to advance plot, rather than like, the writing itself being art... if that makes sense
King Crimson is probably the best band ever, for how fucking inconsistent they were anyway!
kinda reminds me of being an animal collective fan years ago... hate to say it but it seems like a certain kinda 9+ pitchfork review will send people into a frenzy... need geese to hurry up and alienate their fanbase so things can balance out ;)
holy shit, this is amazing and hilarious... why isn't everyone talking about the nouveau roman all the time... WOW!
any fave Im Your Man songs? I'm a Jazz Police defender, and I Cant Forget is great too...
a few VERY exciting things coming soon!!!
My newest album is entirely symmetrical in its structure. Every song is in conversation with its corresponding track on the other side of the central piece. Hopefully this creates various effects, and encourages a deeper listening...

Day 20: Flower Moth Tarot by Trees and Flowers & Pure Mothman. A pristine album. Beautifully constructed art-pop with harmonies that Brian Wilson would have been proud of. FFO lushly arranged lofi instant classics. Fave song: The Devil. #TreesAndFlowers #PureMothman #MWE #MWE2026

I did "I know its over" by the smiths after a breakup, already drunk... thought it would be funny, but everyone at that gay bar wanted to do disney songs ๐ญ
might experiment with self portraits again...
