Oh man, thanks, Dylan! That's really kind of you. Being an open node -- having your metaphorical doors open -- has made a real difference in my life, and I'm glad to hear that it's doing that same work for you, too. Hope all's well!
Have you found point of view—in theory, and/or in practice—to be a rather slippery concept?
If so, join @josephscapellato.bsky.social tomorrow night (5/7) on Zoom for a POV Workout!

I read it last summer for the first time! I found it to be the kind of book that is The Kind of Book You Can Only Read for the First Time Once. Enjoy!

Bread! Made with a poolish. A riff on a recipe in Forkish's FLOUR WATER SALT YEAST --
A gentle reminder that your attention is a form of currency. Spend it wisely.
"In governance, good is to be tidy" -- this is so true in administrative work, too!
The Answer That Which Bringeth More Questions!
Right! You fill the spaces with your self/yourself.
Beautifully put! Love the idea that mystery is inherently interactive. I think this is true even if the mystery routes the reader to one answer (cozy mysteries, crime procedurals, etc.) or many possible answers/more mysteries (Lynch, and all the wild fiction that we love best).
Teachers-of-undergrad-poets! Just a reminder that the deadline for this (completely free) (very storied) program is 1/31.
Hey writers! What are your favorite quotes/passages -- from writers -- on language?
One of my all-time favorite poems, and the one I read aloud every New Year’s Eve.
Thanks for this. And I completely agree that extraordinary flash is being written right now! Again, just out of curiosity -- what do you think might help academia and the larger literary world catch up?
Do you feel that there's a trend towards pressing the two together? (And if so, are you seeing this in the way that people talk about the two, and/or in the kind of flash fiction that's being published at the moment?) Just curious!
I've always felt that flash fiction is entirely its own entity, operating in its own universe of varied conventions, pressures, and expectations, a universe parallel to the universe of longer prose!
Just a reminder to encourage your undergrad poets to apply to the Bucknell Seminar for Undergraduate Poets!
