Sad to see this lovely old Sherman put to such a pathetic use ☹️

Jerry, my dear old blackbird friend, is having another tough breeding season. I'm here to provide mealworms and sympathy.

Kemi Badenoch keeps calling for inquiries into the rape gangs. I’m just very confused as to why she never thought to look into this important issue herself when she was Minister for Women. #PMQs

Very happy to be in Najaf, Iraq, leading a team from the ArCHIAM research centre to document endangered heritage in the old town for our project with the British Institute for the Study of Iraq

Anyone thinking the fascist salute might have been an accident hasn't been paying attention.

Musk openly supports the far right in Britain, see Tommy Robinson.

He’s also endorsed Farage and Reform who have moved far right talking points into the mainstream and are aligned with European far right parties.

He’s endorsed the far right AfD in Germany.

It wasn’t an accident.

Today Conservative MPs will seek to block a piece of legislation that will actually help protect vulnerable children from abuse, in order to gain a few retweets from a far-right billionaire.

x
X has ~18m daily USA users. @bsky.app, ~1.5m.

Is it worth 20 MINS a day to proactively recruit and bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, businesses, anyone who is or could be a user, to @bsky.app?

If Bluesky ends up with more users than the others, you destabilize musk, zuck, trump.

Maybe I'll leave it for future owners to test. It doesn't go with anything anyway

Going through old things, found this brooch I think I bought in Sudan about fifteen years ago. Safe or cursed? What's the consensus? I think it's made of bone.

I'm in the north of England, so definitely not tropical! The bay window must be perfect for it, like a little green house. We had a very wet summer this year and I think it enjoyed the humidity.

Yes, all I do here is close the curtains on it before I turn the living room lights on - the shortening days make it naturally turn red

I've repotted it three times, each time after it out-grew the pot and started looking sad

My poinsettia is flowering for its 5th Christmas, but it's become unmanageably enormous. Be careful about buying it bigger pots...

One internet source says they definitely should die by the new year, another one says they can live up to 20 years(!) but will stay small if you keep it in the house. If it gets any bigger it won't fit in my house 🤷‍♀️

I don't understand why it didn't die after the first Christmas, I didn't do anything except carry on watering it.

House plant question: is this normal?
My £3 supermarket poinsettia is about to do its 5th Christmas. I think it's about time it moved out and found its own place tbh.

It's snowing outside so seems appropriate to crack out the fire and wine, although I'm inappropriately reading Arabian Sands by Wilfred Thesiger.

I've changed my mind! I thought it would be cosy but it's actually horrible - it smells of mouse droppings and abandonment. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Now I've lit it, it does indeed smell just like a second hand bookshop

Here I am, breathing in lungfuls of fresh clean Bluesky air after these long months stuck in the fetid pub toilet cubical that is Musk's X. Definitely washing my hands, maybe twice to be sure.
