See you on January 17!

I've been buying myself books for over 40 years now and the lack of choice and diversity on bookshelves in the shops is as worse as it was in the early to mid 90s.

Green graphic with book cover and text.

Book cover: Daughters of Nicnevin by Shona Kinsella. Two women in 18th century highland dress stand back to back in a field. They are surrounded by men made of straw. The atmosphere is brooding and menacing.

Text reads: Out November 11th from Flame Tree Press. "set against the backdrop of Scotland in the 1700s, the Jacobite uprising and the witch trials, Daughters of Nicnevin is a haunting, ethereal tale of love, sisterhood and magic." - Helen Glynn Jones, author of The Last Raven

The Children of Inauron series places great importance on mental health.

Last night, @danielecoolbaugh.bsky.social and I dove into why this is core to the series on the Fantasy & Sci-Fi Fanatic's Podcast.

Shorts soon. Full episode in March.

Disabled people are always the first stop on a slippery slope: databases, “tracking,” policy that treats our lives as problems to eliminate - these things have historically led to sterilization, institutionalization, and worse.

And autistic humans are the first on this administration's list.
